Anybody want to confirm?

Butkus

Not even heat.

... or poison gas, or anything cool.

Btw - I used "Fresh Step" cat litter, and Wesson 100% vegetable oil.

I think I remeber it saying something about it being a clay based kitty litter.

Now fill a ping pong ball with drano, tape it back together then drop it into a gallon of gasoline.

When I was a FF/Haz-Mat Tech, we used kittly litter for all types of spill including diesel oil.

Never had a problem.

But....Potato Chip are Hydrocardons.

Ohhh, now I remember. Brake Fluid mixed with HTH.

I put about a quarter cup of kitty litter in a ceramic mug, and then poured in a little vegetable oil, and when I saw no immediate reaction I poured in more to get an even mix.

Since then it's just sat there - no heat or anything. I'm going to throw the mix away soon (but thought I'd leave it for a while just to check).

At least put a match to it before you just throw it away!

In all fairness, I believe that "may result in a fire" is substantially different from "may be flammable"

Isn't vegetable oil already flammable? If so, I wouldn't be surprised if it would burn, if combined with kitty litter.

But, what the hell - I'll try it.

Hold on ...

I'm going to write myself a note. I'll buy some fuller's earth kitty litter in the AM, and after church, the Boy Scout I'm coaching for his God & Country medal and I will see what we can do.

Then go round up some drano and ping pong balls...

Squat !!

Absolutely nothing. I threw a match into the mug (after letting it burn and catch most of the match) - it just went out.

Then I tried throwing it directly into the mix, while the matchhead was still igniting - to get maximum heat, and still nothing.

It's good to see that Psychopoliticians are out in front, when it comes to the new kittylitter-vegetable oil incindiary/explosive technology. We will master this new super-weapon !!

Hell if that were true thousands of repair shops would have burnt to the ground, they use the stuff to clean up oil spills. Someone ate a big plate of bullshit.

Are you sure they didn't mean postassium permanganate & glycerine?

DON'T do it.

One thing that IS fun is shooting at one pound propane cans with my AR15. You NEVER see them even hit the ground - they just fly off into the sunset. Doing it with tracers is GUARANTEED to give you a hardon. We used to do that dumb shit when we were kids. Lighting a newspaper on fire next to the can before shooting at it works too.
Link Posted: 1/7/2006 9:58:59 PM EDT
You know how you buy a bottle of Tobasco or something, and they have a gazillion recipes (Write for free recipe booklet!)? Well that is to get you to use more of the product.

Same thing here... they put that thing about veggie oil and kitty litter on the label so you idiots would all use it up your kitty litter (or better yet, go out and buy some if you don't have a cat) trying to get it to catch fire.

Suckers!!!
Link Posted: 1/8/2006 3:32:05 AM EDT
This is damned interesting.... was the warning label on kitty litter or on the vegetable oil?

Actually a training manual for desposing waste. It had a warning that said somthig like "WARNING. Do not dispose cat litter and vegetable oil in the same container as it may result in fire"

maybe the litter has to be dirty, add ammonia by pissing in your mug and then see what happens

i would bet they way it might, and i said might start a fire is if you only coated the cat litter with the oil then stored it in an open bucket. just like rags with oil on them in a bucket can catch fire, it has to do with surface area of the fuel, enough of hit to heat up from the slow oxidation, and enough air flow to keep it getting O2 with out cooling it off
