I currently have a Smith & Wesson Tactical .40 loaded with Ranger SXT's as my nightstand bump in the night go-to gun.
While I am profecient with it, I find myself disliking the idea of a decocker/safety device on my pistol. I think that at 2am the less bells and whistles I have to worry about, the better. I am considering switching to a Glock 21 with night sites and a Surefire X200 on it for a new nitestand gun. Pros: -BG's dislike the taste of .45 -13rd capacity is a plus -Safe action = point and pull reliability (no decocker/safety to foul the engagement) Cons: its not a 1911 What do YOU trust YOUR life with? ETA: What about lighting? Seperate flashlight..gun mounted light? |

Springfield 1911 or H&K USP 40.

I like that I can put it in the pocket of my robe without concern of an AD. |

Nice. How do you like it with that gr. weight? I've been trying to find a 220 locally to pick up for a decent price. |
|
|
A glock 36 with 2 extra mags, Surefire 6P & a flashbang. My RRA M4gery sits next to the nightstand so Iguess it doesn't count.
|
|
AR at the foot of the bed with duplexed mags, 870 tactical mag with 7 rounds of 00 in the tube + 6 on a side saddle between the bed and the wall, a redhawk 44 mag and a blackhawk 44 mag on the headboard, 1911, and a .357 snubby on nightstand as those are my carry guns and get picked up in the morning. Yeah I think I'm well enough armed at night.

Sig2229rd with m3 light loaded and locked across the room in my gun locker. Kids in the house and my wife tells me I do weird shit in my sleep... so I tore a picture off the wall one night while I slept... big deal. Better safe than sorry. I want to make sure I am awake before I grab a loaded gun.

Sorry everyone had a couple after a long day at work. I meant to say SigP229R .357sig. Also have a loaded S&W model 19 .357mag and a Colt Series 70 45ACP in the gun locker. Choices, Choices, Choices... sure hope they don't get me killed... Yea I said they were loaded. What good is an empty gun??? I am the only one with a key to the locker.

I want pics of these palaces that you guys who say this live in. Unless you live by yourself on 20+ acres and you have 10000 sq foot homes and the ability to shoot unobsructed over 50 yrds indoors you guys using your rifles as home protection are gonna be fucked when ya shoot the bad guy kill him and the bullet goes thru your next 2 neighbors houses and hit one of them. The longest shot I can make unobstructed inside my house is approx 25 '. I think hand guns and skatter guns are more then enuff for in home protection. And to answer the original question SA 1911 ultra compact. |

Look guy, .223 rounds are less likely to go through your neighbors house than a 9mm round. If a shotgun or a pistol is "good enough" for you, fine. Don't criticize others until you know what you are talking about. There is a very good reason most police forces have switched to ARs from MP5s. |

you sir are pretty damn ignorant. my carbine is more accurate than any handgun I own at the limited ranges I have in my apartment, and I wont have to worry about making the moving head shot if someone is wearing soft body armor, which your .45ACP has little to no chance of defeating. I also know from personal experience that .223 will drop a human far more effectively than damn near any handgun, and I have complete confidence in the weapon. btw, I live in a shithole 2 bedroom apartment. |

All rounds - with the possible exception of birdshot - will penetrate walls. Know your target and what's behind it.
I have an m4gery next to my bed. And an A2 under it. And a 1911 in a drawer. Pistols are used to fight your way to your rifle. Besides, I don't live near neighbors, unlike you city folk. |
|
i keep my G22 with gold dots and 7 spare mags on the nightstand in a oldschool tupperware case without a top.
leaning agaist my bed is my rem 870 tactical magnum with 00 buck. i dont keep one in the chamber in this so i can make that racking sound that makes all the bad guys shit there pants. |

|
Glock 23 with trijicons, 2extra mags of hydrashocks, Surefire M3 combat light, AR with TA31a ACOG and Surefire a500 if they are dumb enough to get all the way to me. There is also the 870 Remmy right next to me now. The 1911 in the TV room. The SAR3 in the living room... I think that will do...
