Instead of asking what firearms we own that are most reliable, let's ask which ones we carry into a dangerous situation. Think one rifle, one shotgun, a pistol, and possibly a back-up pistol or revolver. If you had to grab your stuff and go, you have decisions to make. Think of the New Orleans disaster. Tell us which of your guns are the few, the proud, the ones you will live and die with. It would also be interesting to see how the weapons are equipped.
My picks are: VEPR K: EO-Tech on BP-02 mount. Thunderbear Tactical sling. Win 1300 Defender: Pisol grip. Surefire forearm light. Sidesaddle. Tac-Star sling. Sig P229: Trijicon night sights. Surefire combat light. Back-up: Kel-Tec 3AT. |

First of all, I wouldn't knowingly go into a dangerous situation. Though that might seem a gratuitous answer, the statement of the problem begs it: the situation is given as dangerous.
So, with this foreknowledge, it would depend on the nature of the situation (we're assuming I can't avoid it). I keep things simple to avoid large choices of weapons and the "Let's see, well use this for this and that for that." I can take a Marlin 1894 lever rifle in .44 mag., and a S&W 629, 3" barrel in my pocket; backup is a Bond Arms derringer in .44 mag. Add in an assortment of .44 mag and .44 Special ammo to cover a variety of situations. If we're talking TEOTWAWKI, anticipating possible tactical situations, then it's an AR-10 carbine, collapsible, ACOG, sidearm is a Browning Hi Power, and backup is a Kahr MK9. |

i have too many choices. I would say it would be my RRA Entry Tactical and my Springfield 1911. Both most reliable and accurate weapons.

18 in. M14 Crazy Horse clone,Sig P220ST, 1968 vintage 8 shot Ithaca 37 riot gun.And my trusty straight handle Busse Battle Mistress because it won't run out of ammo and people fear getting layed open by a big blade more than getting shot.

Ameetec M4gery
Mossberg 500 with all the little bells and whistles HK USP9 w/ UTL and meprolites all 3 guns have been nothing but reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to grab any of them should some shit happen |

Any of the ones I use for work:
Glock 22 Glock 23 Benelli 14.5" Entry Bushmaster M4 HK UMP 40 RRA 20" Varmint Remington 700 LTR |
|
Wilson Combat CQB
CMT/LMT 16" M4gery S&W 442 Airweight BK&T Brute Emerson Commander and LaGriffe |
|
I strap a suitcase nuke to my back and charge the enemy !!
Yeeeeeeehaaaaawww !!! Seriosuly - this is once again one of those questions that depends on context. Am I going into battle against conventional forces. Am I running across the street to help the neighbors against an armed intruder? Did Soviet paratroopers take over the high school? Are armored elephants coming over the mountains tomorrow morning? Will I be carrying gear for an extended march through mother nature, or driving around in an air-conditioned mercedes? As a general all-purpose SHTF package, I'd take my midlength AR with Elcan, and a 1911. (If I'm carrying an AR and a pistol, the shotgun isn't worth the extra weight, IMO). |
|
depends on which way I intend to go
towards the city: AR carbine Glock 23c no shotgun, it is just useless dead weight if you have a carbine for the hills: FAL Glock 23c or FM Hi Power Mossberg 500A turkey gun for game getting. EDIT: or I could just duct tape an M21 AT mine to my helmet and turn myself into an optically guided foot propelled anti tank projectile. |

AK
870 Police with speedfeed stock and surefire foreend Springfield Operator Secondary Pistol- Smith and Wesson 686 6in |

I would bring:
A semi-automatic machine gun pistol A sawed off shotgun A high-power assault rifle |
|
My Bushmaster.
My .40 Hi Power. Don't own a shotgun currently, but will be picking up a Remington 11-87 soon. |
|
To knowingly go into a dangerous situation like say a hurricane.
That would make me carry an issued M16 or M4. Possibly an M9. Other than that, why would I knowingly go into a dangerous situation? Maybe to rescue a family member or good friend I guess. |

My Colt AR-15 with 5 mags
My Glock 21 with 5 mags My little mossberg 500 |

I know one thing for sure - I'm not taking my accurate M48 Yugo Mauser, as its 5-round cap and its bolt-action would make me a sitting duck for the sixth zombie, nor am I hauling the 12+ lb bulk of the JLD PTR-91 with 20-rounders and the Bushnell Elite 3200 10 x 40, nor will I hump the 9+ lbs of the Garand for the same reason. No, I'm going for the AR 16" Carbine with the YHM light accessories, all five of my mags, and my Czech CZ 52. I'll take my Buck straight blade, my CRKT folder, and as much ammo as I can stand - plus my ultimate BU gun, the Kahr PM-9.
Actually, with my sub-par physical condition for long-term action and my advanced age (41 on Tuesday ), I'd probably wait for trouble to come to me with the PTR. It's a SHOOTER, and I'd be taking out the Undead via cranial vault-shots from UNGODLY distances. SHPLAAACK!! [eyeballs sailing] |
|
Stag/Clot M4gery (aimpoint, surefire, rail forend, vltor basic carbine stock, Gemtech Bi-lock)
with 15 mags. Sig P-226 with 6 mags, Glock 19 with 6 mags as backup. Screw the shotgun. Ditch that and use any spare room or weight allowance for more ammo for the above. Chris |
|
Bushy M4
Glock 22 Colt Cobra 2" .38spl And all the ammo I could reasonably carry for each. |
