Why do Stop-N-Robs sell cold beer? Is it not so it is palatable? 90% of beer can be stored at room temperature so why sell it cold?
I worked at a Stop-N-Rob for a while and guys on the way home would stop in everyday and pick up a 6-pack of "Road Beer" (wonder why they called it that) or a nice frosty 40. Now I'm sure they waited till they got home to drink this beer. Whether you like it or not we have laws that say you can not drive with an open container or drink from a bottle or can walking down the street. So if it is illegal to drive and drink beer and illegal to walk down the street and drink beer why is it legal to sell refrigerated beer at drive throughs and convenience stores? I know I am an odd ball because I don't drink and I'm sure you all think I am a prude, I don't really care. If you drive and drink I guess there is no way you would ever understand the point. Where does your right to purchase Cold Beer originate? Is it a Constitutional Right or is some other? Why do you need Cold Beer, can you not wait for you beer to cool at home? |
well ..I guess its time for a "beer party" in the harbor....in the summer though ,we wouldnt want the beer to be cold
In Indiana only a liquor store can sell cold beer. At the grocery and gas stations it must be sold warm. You can buy wine already cold, even the the $2.50 MadDog20/20:)
Must be a f**kin Brit. |
CA has a 10-day waiting period on beer? |
Should I have to buy beer warm because some criminals like to drink and drive? Is beer at 61F going to deter a drunk driver? I think that it won't stop or even curtail drunk driving but it's one more little inconvenience that we have to deal with. Death from a thousand cuts. |
You should hear talk radio, people are going ballistic...........this asshat thinks this is a great idea and is gonna cut down on drunk driving.
I guess they really do earn the pay this is almost the dumbest thing i have heard in my life. |
you have any idea how long it takes warm beer to get to "cold beer" status in the fridge? kiss. my. ass. anything else you don't like? smoking perhaps? cause i can damn sure start..................... |
what right does this politician have to tell someone that they cannot sell a product below a certain temperature? next up: coffee must be served at under 95 degrees when sold at the drive through to avoid burned thighs. |
Exactly. How about if he doesn't like it sold cold he doesn't buy it cold and he gets to exert his influence on "the market" like everyone else. And then we find out it has no effect on supply and demand because no one gives a fuck what the retard busybody thinks. |

You get an alki that needs to maintail his/her BAL. It won't matter if it is cold or warm, they will drink it anyways.. then get drunker from drinking piss warm beer. IMO

This guy solicited advice for laws from 5th graders and took it seriously? What's next, war planning from Michael Moore? Or how about affirimative action laws for congress/senate/POTUS.
See: Pussification of America thread. |

Again, I thank you guys for this country that you are leaving to my generation.
we are so free |

My point was it is obvious that cold beer is intended to be consumed immediately and it is sold where it can not be consumed. FYI NH has State Liquor Stores/Road Side Rests, now that is brilliant. |

He has the right to do what his constituancy wishes of him. If the public is behind this, then this is what he should do. |
Do you think maybe it is because liquor is significantly cheaper in NH than in MA or ME and people from those states drive across the border to buy booze? No, that would be too brilliant! Do you think it is a coincidence that the interstate 93 State Liquor Stores you are referring to are only a few miles from the MA border? No! |

Jefferson City California?
Can you buy alcohol there on Sundays? |
I can cool a cooler of beer in about 10 seconda with a blast or two from my CO2 extinguisher.
60 degree beer in a 102 day is still mighty refreshing Lebrew |
somehow I kinda sorta have a wee bit of doubt that the public is really behind this one. as for cold beer "being meant for immediate consumption" have you ever heard of unpasteurized beer? no? well if you dont chill it, it goes bad. most micro brews are not pasteurized as it tends to change the flavor. if I'm not horribly mistaken, Coors is not pasteurized either. this politician is an ignorant fool who is trying to save people from themselves when he doesnt have a clue about what he's saving them from. |
Fixed it for ya. |
IMHO, skunky beer would be a far worse crime. |
Yes I have heard of it that is why I said that 90% of beer does not need refrigerated. Bud, Miller, Natural Light, Colt 45, OE, they don't need it. If you really wanted to get warm beer cold fast buy a 2lb of ice, a cooler, and some salt and you will have cold beer in 15 min. In Ohio you can't buy beer on Sunday what purpose does that serve, none. If you must have alcohol you just need to plan ahead. |

State Liquor stores at a road side rests is just a bad idea I don't care if it is marketing to out of state buyers. |
The city council where I work passed an ordinance that the stores can't sell cold singles smaller than a quart. So now all the stores sell cold, 44 ouncers. Yeah, that cut down on drunks driving. What a bunch of idiots.
Unless "liquor store" falls under the definition of "convenience store" then all it does is give liquor stores a competitive advantage with the "I have to buy cold beer" buying public.
Ban cold BEER ? Might as well ban the sale of ice too then. Most places around here give a free bag of ice when you buy beer.
Don't forget the salt. |
In light of reading this thread earler first thing I did on the way home from work was pop into the local stop and rob and bought a Cold beer.
ha take that!. |
This just in...
Sales of large coolers and ice on the rise... More at 6:00 |
I come from a very German family. Warm beer was the norm. Of course That was before they started drinking store brought beer and not the homebrew.
I have and still do from time to time pop open warm beer. This representative is a over zelous puke that is just looking for a way to make a name for his self for reelection. Oh and the kid that selected the topic, was a most likely public school educated who has recieved his full "it takes a village" state brainwashing. |

Here is another idea to make us safer.
Mandate all ammunition be contained in cans like a canned ham. A can opener must be used to open the container. THIS WILL STOP DRIVE BY SHOOTINGS ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE GUN SHOPS! |
