Quoted: He was accused of standing by and letting it happening or encouraging it... something it is virtually impossible for him to defend himself against and he a charge he has denied.
Contrary to what hear there is no evidence he was in any way involved
It has been historical experience that Arabs need no encouragement to kill one another and are particularly hostile to so called “Palestinians” Arabs… refer to Black September for example.

Indeed. This was the basis for him being found "indirectly" responsible.
"the Kahan Commission stated that there was no evidence that Israeli units took direct part in the massacre and that it was the "direct responsibility of Phalangists". However, the Commission recorded that Israeli military personnel were aware that a massacre was in progress without taking serious steps to stop it, and that reports of a massacre in progress were made to senior Israeli officers and even to an Israeli cabinet minister; it therefore regarded Israel as bearing part of the "indirect responsibility."
One thing I always find odd about this massacre is the body count is counted at between 700 and 3500. Seems strange that an accurate body count can't be made of a massacre that happened in a very small, contained area.
At the end of the day Sabra and Shatila was one group of Arabs killing another group of Arabs.
That same year the Syrian President had his army murder about 20,000 civilians in Hama to put down the Muslim Brotherhood. Funny how that almost never gets any press. Since no Western leader can be blamed I guess the victims don't matter. Which is the heart of the accusations against Sharon. The people that make them couldn't give a shit about the dead civilians. They just want to throw mud and hope some sticks.
