I've never watched/read anything Star Wars but I was in a Sears store and seen part of one and I want to see them now. I was thinking of watching the first three episodes (I-III) first then the last three(IV-VI). Some people have told me that if I do that I will be dissapointed by the graphics in the last three but the story will unfold better for me. What should I do? Watch them in the order they came out or in numeric order?

I dont have time to read all the books either and if I did....I'm more of a movie kinda person.

numerical order, 1-6
Link Posted: 1/3/2006 4:41:32 PM EDT
Watch the originals and forget the new ones were ever made.
Link Posted: 1/3/2006 4:42:27 PM EDT
Go ahead and watch them in order, I guess, but be aware that Nos. 1 and 2 suck and have little to do with the rest of the films.

Don't listen to the people telling you to ignore the prequels. They are all either enemy collaborators or closet homosexuals ( j/k).

This is the order in which to watch the movies:

Star Wars (aka A New Hope)
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith.
Link Posted: 1/3/2006 5:21:26 PM EDT
Yea DO NOT watch 1, 2, and 3 first it will taint the originals. Enjoy the originals.

I agree.

To tell you why I agree would spoil the surprise.

Watch 4 and 5 on laserdisc...the DVDs are fucked up...

See if you can find anybody who has the original release of 4,5,6 on VHS or laserdisc.

I would watch them from odd to even...in other words...first episode 1, then 3, then 5,...then drop back to 2, 4,and 6....

They make the most sense that way.....

Also if you start Floyds Dark Side of the Moon, when Luke gets his hand whacked off....well...you know.

This is the correct Order to watch the Star Wars Movies:

1) Caddyshack
2) Heat
3) Saving Private Ryan
4) Old School
5) Batman Begins
6) The Sting

I think you may find this ordering more satisfying than those suggested previously.

You could watch them 1-6 in order, but I really think that you should watch them in the order they were released for full effect.

4. Star Wars: A New Hope
5. The Empire Strikes Back
6. Return of the Jedi
1. The Phantom Menace (sucked)
2. Attack of the Clones (Kinda sucked at first, but got better later in the movie)
3. Revenge of the Sith (Awesome, except for Darth Vader's Infamous sililoquy at the end )

I want to find someone who will burn the laserdisc versions of 4, 5, & 6 to DVD. I f'n refuse to buy the abortions that Lucas made of the "Director's Cut" versions.

1-6 in order. I kinda wish I could have watched them in that order. But then again I seen #4 in the theater the weekend it came out.

Watch them in this order:

3, 5, 1, 4, 6, 2

Seriously, I'd watch 4-6. At that point, if you're hooked, go ahead and watch 1-3. If you're not and think that people in the late 70s and early 80s were nuts for going crazy over this shit, then don't bother with 1-3.

Really, Lucas could make a few more million to line his pockets if he came out with 4-6 on DVD if he kept it original release.

+1000000000000000000000

If you want to do it properly , watch them in order of the release date. 4 5 6 1 2 3

If you watch them in numerical order you will have trouble following the story and you wont give a flying eff to boot.

Beware the shitty director's cut versions

Well it's not really an LP just the size of an LP. It's like a DVD or CD just bigger.

Someone explain to me whats so horrible about the directors cut dvd releases or what not, my only copies are of the original VHS's. I haven't seen them on DVD.

inserted new scenes, which are just garbage CGI shots of new alien creatures, etc.

Jabba the Hutt in the 4th episode is laughable.

Blah.

eta: and oh yeah, Greedo now shoots first.

Lucas added footage on the Special Edition 4-6 a few years back, this is what's now called the director's cut that we now see on the DVD. Most of the footage is CG or CG enhanced. One of the scenes is of Hans and Jaba talking about the money Hans owes Jaba, Lucas shot the scene with Ford talking to just some normal guy, then CGed the guy out and Jaba in.

BURN THE HERETIC!

AND...AND AND AND....

If you can get your hands on it watch the animated Clone Wars Volume 2. It's an hour long and bridges the gap between Episodes II and III. I really can't vouch for Volume 1, I've never seen it.

oooooh its those scenes that they added when the rereleased the movies in theatres like 8 years ago or something? worthless!

AFAIK, they've been changed again. I'm not sure how, but I heard that for one thing, Hayden Christiansen was inserted into the maskless Darth Vader scenes.
