I wanted to ask a question here from those that are currently in NY.  Are you "upstate" or are you in the Manhatten/Queens/Long Island area?  Im on LI and still hate it.

Ya!  You might as well come here.  Most everyone else from NY is here  or You could stay there rally the troops and vote socialist like Schumer out of office

Miami.

Next question?

How are the guns laws in Miami?

Very free.  I got my CCW in 17 days from the day I submitted my application (use electronic fingerprints).  The CCW also eliminates the waiting period.

You can pretty much own any rifle long gun you want.

You have the right to defend yourself and your property (castle doctrine extended to mean your personal space, wherever you may be.  Thats my paraphrase by the way, best to check the statutes)

As far as Miami goes, its nearly torture (almost) for a New York driver (like me).  Bottle up about 10 yrs of patience and bring it with you because you'll go thru it in about 8 months.  There seems to be a general lack of urgency in the majority of drivers (I found age to be an extremely minor factor in driving habits).

Its always 70+.  Don't let chilly mornings fool you when you choose your wardrobe for the day

Slight alteration, but otherwise accurate.

Not likely since even the Republican areas of NYS voted for Schumer in 2004. He and Hitlery aren't going anywhere.

ME, NH, and VT are pretty damned good as far as guns go, and you won't be all that far away from NY if you want to get back down to see friends/family for a weekend.

seriously though, write up a letter to all of your reps. doesn't matter what their political bent is, and tell them why it is that you are leaving. i did that when i left CT. though it probably won't change anyone's mind, it's nice to at least let them know their decisions have consequences (in the form of lost tax revenue), and that some of us actually DO care.

They'll consider drafting a letter to you, pleading with you not to go, until they read the part in your letter which says you are a gunowner. Then there will be high-fives all round in the office, and they will say, "YESSSS! It's working! Another one bites the dust- pretty soon there will be no more mouth-breathing, monobrow troglodyte gun nuts in our fair state! Good riddance!"

'Cos that's how most NE pols see us.

while i agree with that assessment, if we all did it, it MIGHT send a little message. if some politician sees a few of those, he might think twice. not because they care mind you, but because gun-owners have money too, and that's all the pol's really want.

I'm upstate, and honestly, it's a nice place to live, but the NYC/LI Liberals cast all the votes, it's like upstate is a completely different area but we have to live under the same laws that people in NYC have for the most part. I personally don't know many people that voted for Hitlery or Schmuck.

Both Chuckie and Hitlery are popular in upstate NY. In '04 Chuckie won every county in NY except for Hamilton. The Republicans can't even find a viable candidate to run against Clinton. In 2006 barring some miracle Spitzer will become the next Governor of NY. If Pirro takes over as AG the two of them will become the Batman and Robin of gun control initiatives in NY.
