A classic! I love the way the dialog is done...the people talk over each other's sentences just like in real life.

The scene where the team spreads out on the ice and makes a "saucer" outline is one of the most pwerfull in sci-fi history.

the overlapping dialogue is very cool and truly rare in films

though it was also used in Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Thanks for the FYI.

I liked this old version a lot better than the "gore fest" remake.

The creature was played by James Arness, a decorated WWII Anzio combat veteran and one of my all time favorite actors.

At 6-foot-7-inch, Arness made a great monster.

I like the comeraderie shown by the military guys. They tease the commanding officer but it is clear they have a lot of respect for him...and for each other.

That's a far cry from the way they depict military outfits today, like in Aliens...everybody bitching and moaning and the officer is a weakilng; the only competant guy is the tough black NCO

A true classic.  The only part that I don't like is that they destroy the ship.

Great dialogue.  Outstanding action, good story line and far more enjoyable that that ridiculous gorefest of Carpenter's.
