That Tred Barta is my kind of guy!
I tried the same thing -at night- for my 56th birthday with two of my sons ,garryowen and the red goat! We walked our asses off and never caught up to a hog!

when we rented videos at the shop we had one with a guy spear hunting bears
 has some big ass pike with a hilt on the front, he would run up to the bears and hold on for dear life as I would imagine if the bear got loose or went up the spear you would be screwed |

That was crap. Have some dogs run down a hog and then jab it.
Had he stalked it, and killed it, ok. but what he did was waek, at best. |

Have you been close to one of those wild hogs? Their tusks are razor sharp.Even held by dogs they can turn loose and cut you to pieces in a second. heck,if he's going to stalk it and kill him all on his own,he might as well just bite the SOB on the neck and sever the carotid

I had a leg Ranger friend over in Korea who used to hunt boar hogs with a knife (in Hawaii). From his descriptions, it sounded like a significantly dangerous sport.
I can't recall if they used dogs or not but it seems like they did. I specifically remember him telling me about sitting up in a tree, over a trail, & jumping down on the boar. He stuck the boar as he was landing on it. Sounds like a ballsy thing to do. If he missed, slipped, or didn't stick the boar in the right spot he'd be in a heap of trouble. I'd sure like to try it.
