I usually tip the guy $5.

But it irritates me for some reason.

I used to tip my barber $5 once a year, the last haircut before Christmas.  I say "used to" because I bought clippers and let my wife do it now.

I used to go once a week to get my head buzzed...$12 a cut plus a $2 tip.

Damn 56 bucks a month...bought a buzzer now I do it myself.

My wife does my hair now, but when I used to go to a barber, I used to tip 1 or 2 bucks.

I'm fortunate to have a real good barber. I always get a flat top with the sides pretty much shaved.
The young fella does a great job, so the $11 cut costs me $20.
I go every 3 weeks, always get the time I want on appt. day.
Is worth it to me.

Zilch. I haven't been to a barber in years. I go to the gal who does Mrs. Callgood. She charges me 12 bucks. If she wants a $2 tip she is welcome to jack me to 14.

To Insure Prompt Service. She tells me when to show up and promptly cuts my hair. If she wants to loiter it's ok with me. She has The Food Channel on her TV and it's my lunch time anyway.

Restaurants are different. 10% for half ass service to 20% for bust their ass job.

My barber gets a $20, no change back for an $11 cut, but he is way good. Don't even tell him how to do it, just remembers from the last time.

My haircut costs me $12.00 at the local barber shop, which is the last stronghold left for a basic hetero men's only club. The magazine rack consists of Pop Mechanics, Hot Rod, Field and Stream, Guns and Ammo, In season Cabellas catalog the and local paper.  Being from a small rural town in Michigan you get a lot of the local banter and inside info on whats going on with township gov't, schools etc. The information alone is worth the $5.00 tip I leave. The guy who cuts my hair does a great job and makes me look good...which in its self is a major miracle. If your ever in Brooklyn , Michigan and in need of a good haircut look no farther then the Village Barber Shop. Two Barbers, 7am to 5pm - Closed Sunday and Monday. Call ahead to see what the wait time is cause they don't do appointments. I moved to this area 6 years ago from Long Island NY just outside of NYC and everyone asks...how could you move here from there?...my response,.... How could you leave here to go there?

Nuff Said...

I get charged $13 for a cut, and I hand them a $20.  I don't ask for change.  If the cut costs $17, I'll hand them a $20, no change.  If the cut costs $8, I hand them a $20, no change.  A cut is worth $20 to me.
