I just hope they don't screw anything up for FN.

They cant, FN USA is the provider of more than 75% of our small arms in service(M16, M249, M240, M2, pretty much everything important to any ground war...), I cannot imagine how much money is tied up with FN at this point, but I can guarantee that FN will be a friend of the US for many years to come.

Steyr thoroughly in the pocket of the SS during WWII, to a larger extent than any large non-German firm I am aware of.

You mean Steyr of Austria, the first country to be annexed into the Reich.

Skoda gun works made LOTS of Mausers for the Nazis, were they also pro Nazi?

Hugo Boss made the uniforms for the SS.

Porsche made tanks for Hitler.

Yes, because Steyr invited the SS honchos onto the Board of Directors and into ownership.  They also made extensive use of slave labor, more than any non-German firm I am aware of.

If I'm not mistaken the sanctions were over the Steyr HS50s sold to the Iranian military.

I still don't get how a 50cal is a weapon of mass destruction.
Is W buying into the Kommiefornia 50 ban?

The law in question did not specificly indicate WMD....

It required sanctions for any military dealings with Iran, IIRC...

Steyr made an informed decision based on market that was (at least from their viewpoint as Austrian "neutral" Euroweenies) "logical" and profit-driven.

They chose to pursue a potentially large defense market (Iran) over a relatively small and unprofitable sporting goods market (the US).

As Eurabia has already surrendered to Dar al Islam, Austrians are in a state of deluded dhimmitude where they image they'll be left alone (a delusion, Vienna is Muslim by the same convuluted 'right' that Spain is).

There you go.

I'll take a new manufactured Sig 550 in 5.45/556, SCAR, or FN2000.

Sanction may be lifted quickly
Also cited was Austrian firearms maker Steyr-Mannlicher.

Ereli did not provide details on what the companies supplied to Iran, but stressed the credibility of the information on which Washington based the sanctions, which took effect December 23.

He noted that Norinco, a leading Chinese defense industry conglomerate, is a repeat offender.

He also praised the Austrian government for its cooperation in the case of Steyr-Mannlicher, suggesting as well that the sanctions on Steyr could be lifted quickly.

Edit:I read through the thread quickly I did not notice the above had already been posted.

Hi Fans of our Company!

Don´t worry about your spare parts and all the stuff you need  . Yesterday I had a discussion with our executive secretary and he told me that we are only banned from tenders for government projects.
And that is not a big deal because the civilian market is the main point for US sales.

A other Fact: The shipping of 2000 .50HS rifles to Iran was stopped (after 800 rifles) in fall 04 after the US Govt. told our Govt. it´s concern about selling guns to Iran. (2000 rifles are not much for a country but much for a company with 90 employees!)

To read the whole post go here.
He posted about half way down the thread.

BS  Bush Sr.  never limited our rights. It was clinton.

Clinton was President in 1989? Is that the answer you want to go with?

Bill Klinton banned the Steyr USR in 1998
