The crack in my windshield that is. I picked a "Permatex windshield repair kit"
Anyone ever used this stuff or suggest anything that works?

I just need to stop or at least slow down the crack.

The only thing I have ever seen those repair kits work on are chips or small star cracks, once they start running I don't think there is anything you can do.

Really no way to repair a crack that I know of. Chips and small stars can be filled, and I think there is a company that does cracks up to a couple of inches, and I'm not sure of that.

I think your crack is too big for a repair kit. IIRC the repair kits generally only work out to about 5 inches. And they have to be fairly thin cracks.

You can stop it from cracking further by drilling a small hole at the end of the crack, not good for the windsheild though, best to replace it.

... In the spirit of safety, there some things in life that are best to be replaced over repaired

You can steer the direction of travel by applying pressure with the palm of your hand
to various locations around the crack. (it will move towards your hand)

Sounds like a waste of time, but depending on it's location,
you might get it to go someplace that won't bother your driving.

Depending on your state, it might be replaced by insurance with no deductible. FL is that way. As long as the crack interferes with your line of vision or is a safety concern, they'll do it. And I don't think it counts as a claim that will raise your rates, unless it happens a lot.

If you get a crack right above the defroster vents and you live anywhere cold enough that you need to use the defroster, then that pretty much requires a new windshield. The heat from the defroster will keep driving the crack further even if the crack is filled.

...I seem to remember the windshield place guy (who put my new windshield in) said they only warranty crack fills if it's less than 3/4" long, and won't even bother attempting anything over 4" long.
