Hey Folks,
My next purchase will be a 24" heavy barrell 308 bolt action rifle. I'm not a sniper or anything like it.  I just want a nice rifle to target shoot with and reach way out if I ever needed to. I already have the scope and Harris bipod ready to go but I'm still undecided on the gun. I have it narrowed down to 2 rifles.
The Remington 700 police for $800.00 out the door    OR
The Savage 110fp  for $495.00 out the door.
I love the Savage with the accu-trigger but since the Military uses the Remington, I wanted to know if the $300.00 difference is worth it.
Any recomendations will be greatly appreciated,
Base-Rigger

Savage just as accurate and nice factory trigger.  spend the extra money on optics.  Savages are excellent rifles they save mony on stocks and pass it on to consumers.  If you want a specialized weapon ity is likely you will replace the stock either way so go Savage.

+1 on the Savage.  Use the saving on optics.

If you already have good glass go with the Remington. IMO they are made alot better than Savage, the few Savage guns I have seen and actually handled had poor wood to metal fit, and for lack of a better term, they just looked cheap. Remington also has a fully adjustable trigger, not sure if the Savage has this or not.

I would get the Rem700P.  Look around, you should be able to find one for around 650-700,  800 is a bit high IMO.  Check www.snipershide.com as there are always used/new ones for reasonable prices FS there.
