Well that was a little nerve racking

My first time being fingerprinted since my second grade field trip to the police station. Those finger print cards I got to keep. These today have already been turned in to the Sheriff and will then be sent to the ATF along with a form 4 for a 22lr silencer.

Are your fingerprints in “the system”? Why?

Yes

When I was in 1st grade our principal thought it would be a good idea to have a Deputy come down and take all our fingerprints in case we ever got kidnapped or some such shit.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 8:45:19 AM EDT
Yup. Army ROTC in college, Fire Department background check, and CCW. Not a problem.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 8:45:26 AM EDT
What fingerprints?

Link Posted: 12/28/2005 8:45:59 AM EDT
So many people have so many copies of my pics and prints it just ain't funny.

I can't do anything wrong or I'm toast.

Two banking-related jobs plus a DoD security clearance.

The state of Californistan has a set for my registered "AWs".

Plus one arrest, but that's just local and I was framed.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 8:47:12 AM EDT
Yup and here they are!!!!

Link Posted: 12/28/2005 8:48:24 AM EDT
I always said I would never get fingerprinted if I could help it. I just fear going some place now, then an hour later a major crime happens, they dust for prints, mine come up, I get questioned.

Tin foil hat I know. But I still feel weird about it.

But I really wanted a 22 silencer.

From my military career, maintaining my clearance in my current job, and my CWP.

I don't think they have my DNA.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 8:51:10 AM EDT
All of the last three!
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 8:52:06 AM EDT

Yes. First grade field trip to the police station; they fingerprinted every one of us, wrote down our names and addresses, then stuck them in a folder.

Yes, I'm a naturalized USA citizen, and INS requires a set of prints to be on file.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 8:54:42 AM EDT
Yes, Security clearance
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 9:00:07 AM EDT

+1, The Army took fingerprints, saliva, hair, skin scrapings and blood a few years ago and put it in a little packet. Don't rightly know what they did with it. Or do I even want to know?

There's probably a clone of me running around somewhere.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 9:02:15 AM EDT
Green card, CCW.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 9:03:21 AM EDT
Yeah, for my CCW. I'm not exactly thrilled about it either, but I suppose this way they'll hassle me less if I have to draw down somewhere.

Fingerprinted for the USAF twice (Guess they changed in two years! They also have my DNA and footprints)
Twice for CCW.
Thumbprint for AW in CA.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 9:09:08 AM EDT
Yep, a number of times. AFROTC in college. When I was in the Air Force. Again when I worked in the financial industry (options trading).

yep, military and ccw.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 9:19:04 AM EDT
I can think of at least five times off the top of my head I've been fingerprinted . Once for Uncle Sam, once for the Maryland dept. of Public Safety, once for Suffolk county, New York, and twice for some run ins with the law prior to my 18th birthday.

I did get thumbprinted when buying an MIA SOCOM earlier this year. Haven't seen that done before in California with long guns unless they were AWs. Then again I haven't bought a firearm in this state since 2001.

This was at Reed's Sport Shop in San Jose for those familiar with the area.

Plus fingerprinted for the California AW registration.

And for my DCM Garand.

Brohawk,
When were you in the military? If I'm not mistaken I believe they do DNA tests on some of that blood they take so they can identify you down the line if need be. I could be wrong though.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 9:29:41 AM EDT
Between the Army, working for several financial institutions and insurance companies, and CCW permit, I have been fingerprinted so many times I can't even begin to count.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 9:40:17 AM EDT
Yup...footprints too!

Why does the AF take footprints? Is it to help identify you in case you are badly dismembered in a crash?
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 10:07:20 AM EDT
Mine were added to the database several years ago because I work with the local PD. I was not too happy about it, but gotta earn a living. So several months ago when they wanted to take a bunch of fingerprints for my CCW permit, I figured "what the hey", I'm already in there.

I don't trust "the system". Sometimes mistakes are made, and sometimes people are intentionally framed or targeted. So I'm not comfortable with my prints being on-file, but its all water-under-the-bridge now.

I am finding a couple things about this thread interesting.

1. A fricking lot of people are checking the "Negative run in with the law" box.
2. A lot of states require fingerprints for CCW.
3. More people have had their fingerprints taken then I thought.
Link Posted: 12/28/2005 10:22:57 AM EDT
Yes, CCW.
