I Lost 2 Carbines!

But I've gained 2 son in laws.

All the kids know that when they get married, they will receive one of the AR's in my collection (of MY choosing) when they are ready for it.

My daughters (one just married last month and the other married 18 months ago) have just informed me that they are ready to take their AR's home.

Both have reminded me to include some mags as well.

Seriously, I'm happy to have lost the carbines, and the 2 new sons are both great guys.

Leaving the safe:

Olympic Carbine with original heavy 11.5/5.5 barrel, collapsible stock and 3 Colt 20 rnd mags.
PWA Carbine with M4 upper, Phantom FH, A1 length stock and 3 Colt 20 rnd mags.

Easy come, easy go.

ETA - Still along way to go... I have 8 children.

TRAINING!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't go around giving AR's away without training.

(and I hope you ran the transfers thru an FFL)

They know what they're doing

Transferred?  FFL?  Nope, this wasn't a straw purchase, it was a family gift.  And none of the kids live in a slave state.

I was more thinking if they get stolen, sold, used in a home defense, used in a crime etc etc, you want to be disassociated with the rifles.

( I know everyone wants to believe the marriage will last  forever, and the in-laws would NEVER do anything but....experience says otherwise.)

8 children?!! I can barely handle the 3 I've got.  But I do love big families, I come from a family of 5 children, there was never a dull moment at home when we were all there.

I am doing a variation of what you are doing.  When my oldest son was born, I bought a NIB Colt nickel 38spl Python 8" BBL, he'll get that when he turns 21.  For my middle daughter, I've got some gold Tiffany jewelry.  For my youngest son, a unfired M1 Garand from the CMP.

Good on you xanadu (hey that rhymes)

I'm working on getting my son inlaws Ars when I can afford
it also.

They both have places in the country and not bad hunting guns collections.

But I would really like to see them have something defensive to protect
my daughters and Grandchildren.

I know... I know...

My youngest (age 15) is working on being able to shoot her (formerly mine) Cav Arms with all metal parts Norrell's OD* "minute of gonad".   Guys, you do NOT want to get her ticked off.

* She lets me clean it.

(Xanadu... too much estogen in your house!  Yikes!  I really feel for the little guy there.  You and the big kid can fend for yourselves.  Seriously, a fine looking family there!)

The home and land I now own I got at bank foreclosure because the daughter married this guy, and then they got divorced, and now the father is pizzed cuz the land is outside the family.

Used car loans last longer than many mariages today, unfortunately.

I ain't saying don't give the gift.......I'm saying "realize you are giving a gift that could cause YOU a world of hurt."
