....the pattern that shall not be named made up of green, tan, and BLACK? I mean, it is new, was researched, and digitally designed, right?
Just wondering. I guess that is one of the reasons why I am a fan of Multicam. |

black is used to create the illusion of shadows and shaded areas. you would be suprised how well woodland MARPAT works.
i think pretty much everyone here's seen MARPAT in action and know how good it is. black occurs in wooded areas, no matter what a buncha weenies in lab coats postulate. notice how there is NO black in the desert marpats? or any of the desert patterns (with the exception of the chocolate chip)?
It is supose to make it look 3 dementional. In order to do that you need to make it look like it has debth. you do that by creating shadows.
If black does not occur in nature, explain black people, black panthers, killer whales, zebras, darkness, oil, pupils and all the other black stuff.
Like your gums. |
I figured this would stir the pot early the first morning back! I could have always asked whether .45ACP was better than 9mm I guess.
I'm glad you posted this thread actually, cause I was about to ask whether or not the 223 is a suitable cartridge for deer. |
The main thing camo does is break up the human outline which the brain naturally looks for and picks out. So if black does that, so much the better.
I don't know why I found that one so funny. |
Note to self, when in the ghetto use black camo....... |

Yeah, but look at the small furry animals that only have the option of hiding for survival, espacially the small ones that have to worry about birds as predators. Rarely do you find black ones, or black in their color. If you are in a shadow, then you don't really have to fake it with black now do you?
I noticed that that other night when I had a hard time seeing a mostly grey rabbit. |
Where I live, all the furry animals have black. Some birds do to. Look at a squirrel, a deer, or a turkey. They all have black on their fur or feathers. Ever try to find a squirrel that wasnt moving? Its about the best "woodland" pattern going, but Im not going to dress up as one. |

WTF kind of moron says black isn't in nature.
Look around next time you are in the woods. Plenty of black; from black soil, to moss, to muck and mildew on rocks, to deep shadows. Woodland Marpat works great. |

There is black in shadows and black in the jungle dark enough to make some cats eyes on the back of boonie hats look like flashlights. Ok,maybe not flashlights but you could sure see the guy in front of you when you couldn't see your hand. |

You could have posted the obvious, a penguin, but you chose a skunk. The world wonders. |

Guess which one chased me about a month ago while I was walking home |

I thought the obvious would be a Black Bear. |

Black is cool because it absorbs light,of all the colors that are seen as colors to say deers and such(blue is a no no)!! Orange, red, brown, black, and even white are seen as lesser shades of gray!
But blue has it's own color range, and is seen by prey and preditors as blue(something found in a berry)not in a large form!! Blue jeans and a vest just don't cut it!!! Bob |

If black doesn't occur in nature, why is everything so black outside right now?
Word!!! |
+ Good imagination or jaded past? Black occurs in nature. A bit OT, but does anyone know why the old Swiss camo had red in it? |

The original question wasn't a case of Black & White, buy the grey area in between!
There is always a grey area. |
Black isnt found in the environment...terrain, foliage, etc.
