Are you more suited to mornings or nights?

I never was a morning person. When morning comes I just want to sleep.  Sleep all f****ng day.

I am definitely a night owl, I stay up now till about 10 or 11 PM Central.

So are you a morning or night person?

Just for the heck of it I'm putting a poll in.

10 or 11pm is a night owl?

I'm definitely NOT a mornin person, which is why I work the late shift.  I work 4:45pm to 3:15am Tues-Fri.  I'm usually getting to bed around 6:00am.

you consider yourself a night owl when you go to bed at 10 or 11 PM? That's weak. I usually go to sleep at about 2AM on weeknights and about 5 or 6 AM on the weekends. I got used to it because I live in Phoenix and the middle of the night is the only time the weather is bearable in the summers

Neither.  My productive hours are from 9:30-7PM.  Before 6am I am not worth a shit and after 8pm I am just as useless.

Night owl.

It is defiantly easier for me to sleep in the afternoon/evening hours and work a graveyard shift then it is to be up and functioning at work at 8:00 am. And up and not in zombie mode at 6:00am? Forget it!

Night owl.

I wake up at like noon if possible. Stay in bed until 3/hunger pangs/bathroom emergency (whichever comes first). Stay up until 1 AM. Tell myself to go to bed in hour, stay up until 2 AM. Tell myself to go to bed in hour stay up until 3 AM. Decide to go to bed but not because I'm tired.

Night owl.  I work second shift, and get off at 11pm now (used to be midnight).  I'll usually go home and play a multiplayer game on line, watch a little TV or do a little cleaning, then hit the sack around 2am.  Get up around 10-11am.

It seems that my body will simply NOT adjust to regular daytime hours.  I can get myself up at ~7am if I need to, but even if I do that regularly, I simply cannot fall asleep until well after midnight, regardless of when I go to bed.

Night owl.

I can function just fine in the morning if I get enough sleep. I normally get up at 0500 on workdays.

Getting up early is nice as it gives you the whole day to get stuff done, and it almost seems as if you're given extra time.

However, I still find myself inexorably drawn to staying up later and later each night if left to my own devices. The other night I was BS'ing with the folks on chat and I glanced over at the clock..   0400. Zowie.

No matter what though I hate sleeping past noon.

ETA:

I'm much like Matthew_Q in that usually regardless of what time I get up I just can't get to bed any earlier than 11pm. Hell, going to bed at 10pm is early for me. I've started taking melatonin when I need to get to sleep at a decent hour and it seems to work pretty well. Freaky dreams though....

Ever had a dream that carnivorous penguins were eating your leg off?

Yeah, I thought so...

I get up for work around 0500 everyday.  Worknights I try and go to bed early.  Offnights, no limit.

Edit - Dur..  morning person.

I prefer being a night owl, at least when I get the chance to be. I feel 10x better at night for some reason, more energized, etc. I think part of the reason for that started when I was in college. I usually took afternoon and evening classes and stayed up late at night to study and stuff. I enjoyed the fact I usually had peace and quiet in those late hours and could fully concentrate on the task at hand. I am still that way today. I cannot focus or concentrate when dealing with lots of distractions created by being around too many people. So important paperwork is usually saved for late night when people are asleep and not disturbing me either in person or over the phone. Seems to work well.

Night time!

"Hey hippie, how 'bout a watch? You need a watch, 'cause if you HAD a watch, you'd know it be night time - And night time ain't NO time to be in this here neighborhood, so how 'bout a watch?"

I welcome the darkness.

I now work nights, and get home around midnight. By the time I eat something, shower, and watch a little TV and get on ARFCOM, it's about 2AM. That's about when I hit the sack. Sometimes I'm tired and fall asleep, usually though it's 230 or 3AM that I sleep. Get up around 11AM, head to class, then work, and repeat the cycle.

I too am one that can't sleep early no matter what I try. Hate waking up early, and it is very hard for me to function at 630AM especially because I always have an empty stomach, sore eyes, and I'm still sleepy.

I'm more a night person.

All the jobs I worked for a long time
prior to going into the Army were night jobs.

Guess I just got used to it.

I like the solitude.

I used to be a "Night Owl"...but 6 1/2 years in the Army made me a "Mornning Person"...

These days, I'm up at 0345...out the door at 0450 for my hour or so drive out to my desert job-site and "on the clock" at 0600.

Lights Out = Usually around 2030 - 2100...

Starting to wear a little thin, though.

One of my favorite sayings about being up early from Good Morning Vietnam:

Its 0530 sir.

What does the O stand for?

Oh my god its early!
