Will be working on my farm over Christmas and I invited my cousin to shoot some of my firearms while we're out there. So he goes to Cabelas today and this is snip of the e-mail he sent me.

I now have 200 rounds 9mm, 100 rounds .357, 120 rounds .223, 60 rounds 7.62x39mm.  It’s been difficult to find the AK-47 load

How ever will we shoot that much! I don't have the heart to tell him I've got that much ammo in premium defensive handgun loads.

I guess I'll dip into my stash and bring an extra 500rnds of each! Should be a fun Christmas!

Someday he will look back on this experience and blush at his ignorance. If he ever forgets, remind him.

I used to be that way in my 1911 and bolt gun days. Then something 'SNAPPED' around 1992!

He's comming along, he will be getting his 1st AK variant in the near future, I just hope I teach him right!

I snapped after buying the SKS. Here is the thought process:

"Oh man! The bullets go away so fast! Oh, I only bought 4 boxes..."

...to the gun store...

"Oh fuck they sell them in cases! GIMME GIMME GIMME!"

And it is written.

+1. My kid went to take a couple of guys shooting ARs and L1A1s. Thank goodness I called him before he left the house:

Me: Got what you need?

Him: Yes sir.

Me: Plenty of ammo?

Him: Yes, sir. 100 rounds for the ARs and 80 for the L1A1s.

Me: . . . <directions to ammo stash> . . . Got that? Good. We need to talk. Call when you get back from the range.

I remember when I got my first AR. I brought home 120rds and thought that was enough. Then I got 400rds and was worried I might turn into a crazed killer. LMAO. Ought to see what I've got now.

Seems like a previous life...

This was his second trip to get ammo, after I told him his first loadout was not enough!

100 rds for 357 is about right, the other amounts are woefully inadeqaute!

I remember when my friend got his first AK (I only had a 9mm at the time). We went to a gun store and bought 60 rounds for it. Two guys at the store were laughing at us saying that'll burn up too quick. Today I usually bring 300-400 for a semiauto to the range, unless it's just to sight it in.

I think I have 1100 rounds of 9mm on hand, something like 800 or so 5.56 ... I'm running short on 7.62x39 not because of any "shortages" but due more to my laziness ...  Nothing compared to some of the ammo collections I've seen you freaks^H^H^H^H^H^Hguys have ...
