Submitted for your amusement with all apologizes to the late, great Mr. Johnny Cash.
ONE PIECE AT A TIME (ARFCOM style)
Well I decided I needed an AR fifteen
One that was black , tactical, lean and mean
Problem was I just didn’t have the dough.
See the kids in college and tuition was due
Garage door was broken and a faucet was too
Bills and projects were takin’ up all my cash.
Late one night while surfin’ the board
Looking for a rifle that I could afford
The idea came to me like a message from the Lord.
I know a thing or two about guns you see
So I figured, just how hard can it be?
I would just go ahead and build my own.
I’d beg and barter and buy on the cheap
I’d build a rifle that I would always keep
Unlike the many that I sold in days gone by.
So I got busy gathering parts,
Springs and manuals and full color charts
I’d have that baby together in no time.
Chorus
I built it one piece at a time, for 300 bucks and a dime
You’ll know it’s me when we meet at the range
It’s one of a kind, and it’s all mine
But I guess it does look kind of strange
The upper’s purple and the lower is black
The trigger works fine if you don’t mind slack
And the front sight leans a little to the left.
One hand guard is tan and the other one’s green
The barrel is rusty but the bore is clean
And the 6 position stock locks in at least three.
It’s a pre ban , post ban, A two, three and four
The bolt’s a bring back from the Vietnam war
At least that’s what the guy on Ebay said.
I can’t wait to post it on AR15.Com
Digital photos on CD-ROM
The envy will be there for all to see
Chorus
I built it one piece at a time, for 300 bucks and a dime
You’ll know it’s me when we meet at the range
It’s one of a kind, and it’s all mine
But I guess it does look kind of strange
The first range trip was not so good
It did not function like I thought it would
I got a scar from the brass impacting my nose.
The flash suppressor flew down range
The magazines were hard to change
And the front sight fell off after 20 rounds.
I’ll take it home, rebuild and tweak
Get a sear and go to Knob Creek
Bet someone will pay me big bucks then.
Chorus
I built it one piece at a time, for 300 bucks and a dime
You’ll know it’s me when we meet at the range
It’s one of a kind, and it’s all mine
But I guess it does look kind of strange.
