I remember last time I went I ended up spending like 300 bucks for 4 big eaters, how much am i looking to spend for 2 people?
I figure a couple steaks 25 bucks a pop? couple drinks 15 bucks, dessert 15 bucks 100 bucks??? |
$100. Easy.
With drinks, appetizers, desserts, gratuity - $150. |
were you just there? |
About right. |
+1 |
No appetizers, portions are huge there anyways, just a few beers. |

Yup! I was at Applebees after my review, and the tab was... 87 dollars!! I could not believe it! |

Lucky man, I just took my wife there 2 nights ago for our 6month wedding aniversary.. Bottle of Wine: $40 (thought we would save money by buying the bottle, it only lasted 2 glasses each, so it came to be equal if we would have just got individual glasses, it was good though, real good) We Split a bowl of the lobster bisque: $7 My Entree, grouper in lemon sauce: $25 She got the petite filet: $30 w/broccli: I forgot how much extra that was I got Coffee for desert: $2 She got ice cream: $4 or $5 bucks.. total coming to $120ish, 22ish dollar tip - $140ish |

I go with the wife on occasion...
She usually gets the filet, I get the stuffed chicken. Couple ceasar salads, side of potatoes to split, beer for me, coke for her, desert. I think we spent just over $70.00 last time. |
thats cheap. Catch 22? |
$125-$150
2 petit filets, 2 sides, soup and salad for 2, and drinks. The sides are huge, I usually order the garlic mashed and asparagus and split them among two people, more than enough food. |
OK, no way in hell we are getting 2 sides, maybe two salads are the salads for one or are you suppose to split them like the spuds? |

Ruth's in Taipei Taiwan. 1 person: Ribeye, Broccoli, Cheesecake, 1 beer $120. (7 years ago)
if i recall the hashbrowns are enought for like 4 people- but its been a while was 150 for us total last time
You're gonna spend too much for the quality of food you're getting, that's for sure.
Find a GOOD local steakhouse. Ruth's Chris has turned into just another crappy chain. |
That is WAFFLE HOUSE |
i've seen it many times but never went in. i figured it was more expensive than here but damn!!!! have you eaten ruth chris in america? how does the one in taiwan compare? |
I would estimate $125 - $175
Well worth the money. Enjoy! I was just there for my college graduation last Friday. It's the best. |
Last time I was there it ran me about $125 for two and that wasn't including the bar tab.
I myself like Taco Bell and can usually eat there for under $5. I can honestly say that my Taco Bell meal was better than Sullivan's Steakhouse where I dropped $130 or so on a meal for the wife and I.
SO... I guess I have to ask. Is it worth it?
The last time we went out for steak, we went to cattlemans, I got the ribeye, she got the smaller filet. Both had 2 beers, appetizers, and dessert, even throwing in a generous tip for >$90. and thats some quality steak personally. |
They must have changed over the years. I took a gf to one in '76 in NO. I was a poor grad student at the time. I also drank better Scotch then. It's amazing what house/3cars/2kids/college/etc. will do for your perspective. Walked by one in Bham a few years ago at a hotel. checked out the bill of fare outside and kept truckin'. |
Wow. I could eat for 2+ weeks for the money y'all are talking!
what a hilarious coincidence, I was about to post this very same topic later tonight.
who the fuck is ruth chris??? this is a dumb thread with out further info, i hate it when people post idiot questions and they think everyone should automatically know what the hell they are talking about.
you obviously don't listen to the hanity show Ruth's Chris is an upscale steak house chain. |
WOW I'd drop my whole paycheck on a meal if I ate there. It really sucks being a college student who works only 8-10hrs/wk.

I don't know anything about Sullivan's, but please don't compare Taco Bell to Ruth's Chris. Taco Bell isn't quality food no matter how you present it. |

Actually, Taco Bell does have high quality food - you are confusing the words cheap and quality. |
If you are ever in Oklahoma, forget about Ruth's Chris and go to Freddie's Steakhouse in Sapulpa
I swear they must slaughter their beef with overdoses of Valium it is so tender. |
Taco bell has an unidentifiable meat substance slathered with sour cream and fake cheese. Every "dish" they offer tastes the same. Not quality - for any price. |
Buddy of mine called from his car phone recently, told me" You gotta see this shit". He was going through the drive through at Taco Smells and they were unloading at the back door. The box had the following printed on it. "Beef---Grade 5 (but edible)" |

They just opened a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse here in Charlotte, maybe a month ago. So far all the reviews from friends have been negative. They said for the money, it wasn't worth it. A few local steakhouses are just as good or better, for less money. Funny thing is, I heard almost the exact same comments from several people, who don't even know each other.
These weren't penny pinchers either. They just thought it was reputation not meeting with reality. Semper Fi |
The problem with chains is that they don't all live up to the good reputation. I've eaten at the one up in DC and it was GREAT. There's one down here in North Palm Beach but I haven't tried it. With different chefs and management comes different food, no matter what the menu says. |
fixed it. ITs different for shure,, but TASTEEEE! |
I hate to say it though, the meal I had there 2 days ago was possibly the best I have ever had for a very LONG time.
Are you joking, or have you been living in a box/cell/under a rock? It's an upscale steakhouse chain. One in every city, probably more than one in the rich cities. Texas Roadhouse or Cattlemans is as good for half the price. Free peanuts at the TR. |
Well, thanks, you just killed my TacoHell craving for the next 6 months. BTW- I heard from a reliable source that McDee's puts Cows eyes in their burger meat. It's what keeps the meal moist and tender. Burgers have never been quite the same since I heard that one. |

Ruth's Chris is pretty good. It all depends on the one you eat at. I have eaten there at Beverly Hills, New York, Las Vegas, Maui, Irvine CA, and Palm Desert CA. By far the best one has been Palm Desert. Beverly Hills and Maui the worst. Las Vegas was pretty bad and so was Irvine. New York was good.
The bill is usually $150-200 when I eat there. |
