Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - reassigning HDD

Removed my 2 main HDDs and installed new HDD on IDE1, left CD-ROM and Zip drive on IDE2... formatted HDD and it became E: instead of C: .....  how do I make sure it becomes C:?

oh, also tried to partition it in half and only 1 partition showed up. to repartition could I just use fdisk from a Command prompt? (right now i'm running on my old HDD with the new one as a slave so I could get online to ask this while i reformat the new one)

Boot from the Windows CD, go into Windows Setup, create your partitions (but do NOT format them), then reboot.  Come back into Windows Setup, and the drives should be in the proper order (HD = C:).
