My nephew called me and asked for help with his homework. I can't find a chemistry book and wanted to know if someone could tell me two families of elements that has both metals and non-metals in it.

Thanks.

So it is Boron family, carbon family, nitrogen family, and oxygen family?

Yes. I don't think Astatine qualifies as a metal. I'm not sure how much they've actually collected to study. It says "More metallic than iodine" in the Merck Index. Iodine is nowhere near being metallic so it isn't saying much.
