I wonder what those prices would look like if inflation was factored in?  I'm sure they'd still be quite a bit cheaper than what we'd expect to pay today.

For you old timers, did the '68 Gun Control Act (I think that's the right name) seriously affect prices?

Lets see...

139.95 would be in today's dollars...with ~500% inflation from 1966...699.74 dollars

not bad at all for a M14 type rifle.

Its not as cheap as you might think.  You can build a nice AR for 700 bucks.  So we really are not paying all that much more.
