I want to hook up several CC cameras to my computer via USB that will record when motion is detected I DONT want crappy x-10 cameras but something more middle of the road. What programs or companies, etc should I look for?

I have a few panasonic BL-C10A network cams.  These work via CAT5 cable into your home network and can be remotely panned to tilted.  They will also e-mail images when they detect motion.

Not sure about the web cams, but you can get regular cameras fed into your PC with a PCI DVR card.

Check out here (I've been digging around a little):  www.surveillance-video.com
