No. I have little kids who often climb in in the night. It is available in short order (w/225 lumens of light), but in place safe from the kids. We had an intruder type incident a while back, and I am satisfied with my response time in crisis balanced with the need for day-to-day safety.

I leave it somewhere around, where I can't do something stupid in a half asleep stupor. Why the fuck would I need a gun instantly in the night... If someone is that close I'm fucked. |

SW99 .45acp Between the matress and box spring on my wifes side. My job is to get to the shotgun near the kid in the AC closet. Cross fire, she can cover the short dash to the Shot gun, or if it is too late and he is in the house she can shoot while I get my cary gun from the dresser. Both are loaded but not chambered, and the shotgun in the closet is above the door on the inside. so no worries about the kiddo. He cant rack a .45 yet, and by the time he can he will know better than to do it without my permission. He is 2 1/2 and I have him shooting a pellet gun in the backyard safely already. He shoots, puts the safety on, and hands it to me to cock the lever, I do and he takes it back, and asks if he can shoot now ....... Man I love that boy when he focuses so well on a skeet at ten feet, and hits it.

+1 on the night stand. With an extra mag and my Surefire right next to it.
Good to know without the camo, you would want to be able to find it if you needed it! |
Nothing under pillow, but I sleep with a rocket in my pocket!!!
I can't believe it's page page 3 and noone said this yet! You guys are slow!!! |
Too much risk that it will:
1) Fall behind the bed. 2) Go off if I touch it So its on the desk. |
No. Not only no, but HELL no. That's what a nightstand is for.
Under the pillow is the first place the zombies look.
But yes, I do have a 1911 within easy reach. |
I just can't fall asleep without a tactical nuke under my pillow.
ON the nightstand.
I like my head the way it is intact and on my shoulders. |
Wow, only 5 posts and you are already Glock bashing. I don't use a pillow, just lay my head right on the pistol. |

I used to sleep w/ .357 under pillow, but after 9/11, I decided to construct my own fighting position in the yard and now sleep there. It's sweet, got concertina wire all around and two M60's to cover my firing lanes. Wife comes out for a conjugal visit every now and then when I can con my neighbor into standing watch for me. Recently added claymores and trip flares, and a side benefit to that is it has really helped out with my deer hunting lately. I try to vary the times of my 3 nightly "mad minutes" and limit it to less than 250 rounds, my neighbors don't complain as much then, they mainly don't like the 3 shepards roaming the perimeter and occasionally barking (sheesh). Working on a sweet comm center and trying to work a deal with the local Air Guard base where I can call in some air support if needed, or if I am just bored and they need some practice.hug.gif
S&W .357 snubby between mattress and box spring. |

I turned 21 yesterday and have no money, so no handgun. I do keep a huge fricking knife under my pillow though.
A knife is worse than a gun IMHO, just get a bat or small pipe. Preferably a small bat with nails driven through it, although; that might not be all that comfortable. |
No, on the nightstand. I do sleep with my handgun cond. 3 in my hand while out camping.
My wife "worries" about me. I catch shit for it, but I guarantee I'm ready for them zombies.
When I get home, I put my handgun under my pillow so that it's out of sight. Sometimes I go to bed and forget to move it to my nightstand. So far I haven't shot myself by accident.
The most use my tactical thigh holster and drog leg extra mag holder get is hanging off my bed post. Right there if I need it along with mags and I can still trash around in bed in comfort.
Where is your AR? or 12GA? or... |
For the last two weeks, yeah
Normally it's in the nightstand but my wife had surgery about two weeks ago and she has to sleep on the couch so I've been staying on the other end with her |
One? ONE? more like three. |
I got a rifle rack in front of my bed, with a AK mag loaded for each of my AK rifles....its good enough
23 on the nightstand, 870 under the bed
I used to keep my Kimber in a holster under the pillow, but I kept waking up to find that it had fallen behind the bed. |
21 with trijicons and gold dots on night stand, M-4 with a mag of 77 grainers with a surefire 225 lumen bulb under the bed, on the wife's side is Taurus 99 with m3X with gold dots. Yes, we keep cell phones on the nightstand. Also a 65# APBT has free run of the well lighted back yard, she

Nope. In one of those little quick access safes right next to where my arm dangles off of the bed.
Under my pillow? Not a chance...
Within arm's reach? You bet. |
Nope, but I have a 12 ga. full of 00 next to the bed.
Sometimes I hide them under the pillows when I'm gone. |
A friend of mine has a bat with a circular saw blade bolted to the top of it I'd rather not get hit with that fucking thing..... |
