good news and bad news about this summers coming miami vice movie. what would you gentleman like to hear first? the bad news first you say?

THE BAD
the movies cast:
colin farrel as crocket
jamie foxx as tubbs

THE GOOD
Michael Mann is writing and directing

now michal mann is one of my favorite directors. he did HEAT afterall, plus i think "last of the mohicans" is one of the greatest films ever. i almost trust him not to fuck up his signature creation for crass commercialism. i mean he doesnt crank out shit movies for a buck. he is very careful of the projects he chooses.

think colin farrel will carry a Bren Ten?

I wonder if they'll make Foxx carry the old Tubbs' sawed-off shotgun.

I sure would like it if they let Edward James Olmos be the LT again.

Hopefully it wont be nearly as bad as the Starsky and Hutch remake.

I like Colin Ferrel
I was always about  Jamie Foxx I would prefer most movies without him  but there are worse actors but after this Tookie shit I actively dislike him
Hell can't  hollyweird think of anything new ?

I hope they do it right... Man that tv show is timeless.... ( well almost)

My favorite when I was a kid...

I think it is amazing that people haven't noticed the total lack of creativity in Hollywood. I swear to God, it seems like for every original idea that someone turns into a movie, there are at least a dozen knockoffs of other movies and old TV shows.

Michael Mann did the original as well as this movie so it's not really taking a dump on it.

Yep.  Man what a great show.  Especially the early years.  It was one of the first TV shows that wasn't afraid to have a dark ending more often that not.

So... How many movies have come out since 2003 that weren't based on:

A) An earlier movie

B) An earlier tv show

C) A book

or D) A comic book or video game?

I mean, seriously. When was the last movie Hollywood cranked out that wasn't a remake, sequel, prequel, or screen version of a previously seen concept?

When it gets this bad, I'm moving into the country and never coming back:

Well, I liked Jamie Foxx in most of his movies and I still think that he is a great actor ie Collateral, but after the whole Tookie support BS, I can no longer give money to his efforts.

it looks as if the story is based around the tubbs character. with him having a relationship with "big booty trudy". colin farrel looks rediculous in the stills ive seen. and i really dont like them screwing around with the castillo character. im sure this guy will be tight lipped and stoic but do you remember that episode that starred castillo. something about asian gangs and you see him unleash his inner ninja...awesome. a fat black guy just doesnt have that kind of juice.

if sonny crocket draws anything but a Bren Ten im walking out of the theatre. i promise.

I always thought the show was bad.

This will be worse.

My god.  They really are out of ideas.

I think I'd rather see "Brokeback Mountain"

I think I read somewhere here on ARF that a SIG assault rifle will be in the movie.

Just goes to show you how far into the toilet hollywierd has gone .

Can't they come up with any original ideas anymore? Everything nowdays is a remake of a popular TV show or book. Granted, I'll give Narnia and Kong exceptions because it sounds like those two movies really are spectacular.

My prediction: Next summer even fewer people go to the movies than this year. More remakes of TV shows, and remakes of remakes are released. Hollywierd whines and complains even more about losing sales and blames it on people pirating them off the internet.

Then they finally find a "solution" to all their problems, a remake of Any Given Sunday, except all the characters are gay . Yeah, that's the ticket. Let's find a genre of movies where the vast majority of people who watch them are straight men, and make it into a gay movie. Oh wait...

This is going to be a tough decision to make.  I really like Mann's films.  I still like Thief just as much as Heat.

But with those two idiots...  Jeez, I don't know if I should see it or not.

+1  I agree.  I wonder if Michael Mann considered this, seeing as he cast Studi as Magua in "The Last of the Mohicans" and as Det. Casals in "Heat."

Do what I do, buy a ticket for another movie and go see it.

We have an 18 screen theater and do it all the time if we do not want to directly support the movie/actor.

The original show was popular and a trendsetter.

That still doesn't mean it was good.

Hollywood's recipe for remakes: Add one Hot Actor of the Moment (or more to taste), fill to top with Shitty Screenplay, frappe, and garnish with a twist of queer.

I and my posse will stay away from this stink-pickle in droves.

Say it ain't so, Joe!!!!

Well if Miami Vice sucks we can always go watch "Fez" as Officer Francis Llewellyn 'Ponch' Poncherello in the remake of CHiPs.

Although I was greatly disappointed by Jamie Fox's behavior over the whole Tookie thing - he is one of the finest actors in Hollywierd today.  Colin Farrell on the other hand can go [snipped].  I'd rather have Will Farrell play Crocket.
