I bought an unissued one ($179.99) from Wholesale Guns & Ammo and it is great!!  Beautiful rifle.  I have not yet shot mine but a buddy who bought three has--he said they shoot at 2" with the cheap surplus ammo @ 100 yds.  and the recoil is not bad, but would be very mild w/o the steel buttplate.  The accessories are nice and overall we are both very pleased.  As a kitchen-table dealer I ended up ordering 8 of them for guys, once they saw mine.  The surplus ammo is starting to dry up, so I would suggest moving now if you are going to.  Some good ammo can be obtained from SOG--Southern Ohio Gun, 1-800-944-4867.  It is Turkish with German RWS non-corrosive primers.  The bullets are steel cased though.  It comes on stripper clips, which are a little hard to find at gun shows.  It is $4.34 for a 70 round bandolier.

Buy one now.  Shoot the 8mm ammo 'till it's no longer available or very cost-ineffective.  At that point, rebarrel and re-chamber in an easy-to-obtain round that's inexpensive and will use your stripper clips- the .308 or 7.62 NATO.

most if not all milsurp 8mm mauser ammo is corrosive. OK VERY corrosive. After shooting rinse the action and bore with a weak ammonia solution to nuetralize the salts in the rifle. This will prevent damage to the bolt face chamber and bore. after rinsing clean normally.

A buddy told me it is made easy by using Windex (the blue window cleaner with ammonia in it) instead of powder solvent for your initial cleaning.  Be sure to get the bolt, chamber, bbl. etc. thoroughly, then clean normally with Hoppe #9 or whatever.  Check the next day to make sure no light rust has begun.  If not--you did good!!

windex is what i usually use. I spray down good before leaving the range then clean it up soon as i get home. Just make sure you clean it soon. windex will form rust. don't ask how i know this [:)]
