To me, the patties that cost $5 more are just shaped ground beef and I have tons of ground beef. Can I just mold it into a patty shape? And maybe throw some diced onions in too...

Tupperware Patty Press

Use to make nice patties. Use a bread sack to keep your pre-pressed patties in the freezer. Put a small piece of wax paper between patties.

Thats all I have ever done, I just buy ground and mold it myself.
Link Posted: 11/22/2005 11:46:22 AM EDT
That would be insane, you mean those hamburgers are just ground beef?

Thats what hamburgers are...

Quick tip. Throw onions, garlic powder and an egg. in the mix.

The egg will keep it together when its grilling.

No. Hamburgers come from a cylinder-shaped animal called a hamburg. Ground beef comes from cows.

Nope - those are a special cut of beef.

Uhhhh.... No, it is obvious to everyone that you cannot.

However, everyone else does it at will.

Is this post a joke?

If not, are you under the age of 8? Of course you can make a hamburger patty out of ground beef. It's the only way I've ever done it.

Here's a dumb question.....Since you're obviously not using it for hamburgers, what exactly ARE you doing with the "tons of ground beef" you claim to have?

I'm thinking we'll just chalk this up to living in California, because no one I know of would have considered this question.

I'm also torn about whether to advise you to move somewhere else where common sense is, oh say, a bazillion more times abundant, or to recommend you stay there to keep you out of the gene pool used by the remainder of the human race.

Use deer meat instead!

man this thread gave me some good laughs in the last few minutes.

Link Posted: 11/22/2005 11:57:19 AM EDT
this has to be a joke. I don't think anybody that couldn't figure out how to make ground beef into a patty would know how to spell, let alone use the internet

Disk shaped forms are easy to master. Try it! Just grab a ball of meat, knead it a little, compact into a ball and then flatten it out into a patty.

I like adding A1 steaksauce into the ground beef. Just mix it up in a bowl and make patties. I usually put the patties in the freezer for a little bit to firm them up before throwing them on the grill. Let them cook for awhile before flipping them over so they don't come apart due to the weakend consistency due to the sauce. I like a little garlic and pepper in them too.

Can I make ice water using the cubes from my freezer?
Link Posted: 11/22/2005 12:00:17 PM EDT
I always mold ground beef into patties. I can't stand the pre-molded ones. I think they use inferior cattle for the beef patties, especially the frozen beef patties.

I hear you can make ice cubes yourself instead of buying them pre-made in 5lb bags from the convenience store. I'm investigating this over on Glocktalk.

Ironically, I just bought some ice trays about an hour ago (my ice maker stopped working, and I don't use ice often, so I just bought some trays instead).

I'll let you know if I survive the process without injury!

Try thinking out of the box for a change... If you're already using ground beef, why on Earth would you want exact shapes like factory ones?

Mold them with your hands!

You'll be surprised how much less liquid fat and smoke you end up getting when you cook them.

I'm a daredevil like you. One time I tried running my lawnmower on gasoline instead of that stuff in the red cans.

This coming from someone living in MO! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Where did you go to school?

Although it was a stupid question. "Hamburger" and "ground beef" are the same thing.
Unless your hamburger is ground deer or elk etc...
"Hamburger patties" are made from groundbeef

This reminds me of one of the first Twisted-Shit emails I ever got in the mid 90's. It was a video of a dude sticking a hotdog in his mouth. Fade out, fade in to a human anus. A whole hotdog is then shat right out.
