This is an OUTRAGE that this can happen in our United States.
The assholes that signed with the developer should be strung up.
Any decent lawyer should be able to nullify said contract, and then sue the city/state.

They tried doing it in Lakewood, OH (burb of Cleveland) - even made "60 Minutes" ... they were trying to get some well-kept Lakefront property declared "blighted" because they were "too small and didn't have two car garages" to make room for new condos...

I am thankful I live out in a Republican county.

I honestly think this is a very very bad idea.
One day they are gonna try and move somebody out.
Somebody who is old, and this house is all they got left. Lived in it their whole life.
Or someone with a terminal illness who finally decides, fuck it.
Or maybe it will just be someone who has had enough.

And those poor bastards who try to evict the fellow will be dead, and so most likely will be the resident.

A sad fuckin' day in America my friends.

+1 Somewhere we the people lost control of this country. The evidence is everywhere.

I say "follow the money" Are politicians getting rich off this? sure But somewhere behind the scenes is a "developer" who now armed with the ED ruling is using his clout money and power to steal from the middle class and give to the rich. I say with so many people "hating him" there are a lot of "suspects". So i say assassinate him, His dream of stealing peoples land might come true but he wont live to see it. Then the cops will be like "gee there are so many suspects, where to start??" That could send a message to all scumbags to stop stealing peoples land "legally" or face judgement from the two judges "smith & wesson."

I say everytime a private developer tries this shit, he somehow comes up missing.  After a few maybe the assholes will get the idea.  If they don't then it needs to be escalated to the local goverment.  I see nothing wrong with protecting our property by force and highly doubt our FF would have either.

The sad thing is every level of goverment has corruption on both sides of the isle.  Until the PEOPLE take this country back these kind of things will continue to get worse and worse wether under democratic or republican control.  Don't delusion  yourself by saying if the repulicans are in control this will not happen.  Republicans may not of supported this openly in the SCOTUS but they are notorious for supporting the money.  Both parties need cleansed thoroughly and we need to get back to the roots our FF intended.

Unfortunately for us I believe this is just the tip of the iceburg.

Oddly enough, what's lost in the overly emotional rhetoric being blathered here is that folks do not suffer theft.  What they are suffering from is a government that doesn't give a shit about its people--FL, CT, OH, wherever.  You'll notice that some states rushed to pass laws against this sort of thing after the ruling was handed down.  Hopefully your state will pass a well-written law disallowing ED to occur.

Additionally, the laws in place that are being  talked about are written that land can be taken for the public good.  This is not "for public use" but rather, what the government decides is good.  That decision, of course, is highly debatable.

The last part of this is that fair compensation is to be paid to effected persons.  Again, your definition of fair and mine are not going to be the same.

The gist of the problem is that the government of the people is now going to get to fuck the people, and maybe they'll realize that the stiff suits and hairspray they've been electing for 60 years haven't really had their best interests at heart all this time.

But I doubt it.

Is it time to start shooting the bastards yet?

Who?  the supream court, the developers, the state legislators or the founding fathers (for not being more specific on what they meant)

All but the FF. They were VERY SPECIFIC.

They said for PUBLIC USE, not for PRIVATE.

The ED ruling was one of the worst things I've ever seen.

+ a kabillion.
You build a life around your home...raise kids, build memories...and then it's GONE on a whim calculated GREED???
WTH WTF is that???

This is awful.

Fixed it for you.

ED has its roots from contitutional LAW or Judicial? Whatever its root, it is -  reeks of too government involvement and socialist/communist ideal. "All your property are belong to us or is it U.S."

SCOTUS ruling just put this issue into the hands of the states. Hmm, more states rights? Let the states make laws forbidding this kind of stuff.

Exactly.  They said it was up to the states to decide.  Not that the endorsed it or not, but that it wasn't their place to say.  The state governments are who should be held accountable.  Period.

Wow, look at all that blight...

Man, those guys really look like drug dealers and gang bangers...

I guess after those don't work you're left with just, "Shit, we're gonna make a crapload of money fu**ing these people over."

Makes you wonder why you pay your mortgage and taxes when you're just "renting" a $300k-$500k house (In NJ typical asking price for small suburban 1-2 family houses).
