When I went into this degree I went into it because

1) I am all about politics
2) I was doing AFROTC, so I just needed the piece of paper.  Now as I stated earlier I do not want to do AFROTC anymore, but I want to continue with politics or work for the Government in some form

I'm not burnt out on politics/internal politics of VCU as someone suggested. But more of just school.

I am in the process of setting up a meeting with someone now for job/internship choices, just gotta work out when both our schedules are open.

State department usually has some interesting posts.

You have to take this rather irritating test, though.

What laws of physics do you study in political "science"?  Any complex equations involved?  A lot of math?  What, if I might ask, are the laws of politics?  Provable hypotheses?  Reproducible experiments?  Would you say that it is as challenging as, say physical sciences such as chemistry?  Or the more ephemeral, logic-based sciences such as mathematics?

What a maroon.  Some aspects involve math and some aspects involve philosophy, which makes it substantially more intersting than the hard sciences.

I've had seven very satisfying years in .gov work with my PoliSci degree.  Don't forget that a BA is nothing more than a ticket to an entry-level white collar career.  It's not what you degree that matters, merely that you checked the box by getting it.  Having a degree puts you a step ahead of those that don't.  Decide what you enjoy to do and head in that direction.  YMMV.

You picked an almost worthless major.  Poli-Sci, along with "liberal arts" is what a lot of libs pick when they have no idea what they want to do with their life but they want to stay in school and be worthless for awhile longer before they have to enter the real world.

That's an accurate assessment. A polisci major is useless so my suggestion is to go into high-end sales: luxury cars, custom guns, yachts, etc... so you can bitch about how the economy is bad and politics are in a whole new low while handing some guy his latest chick magnet.

My dad was a poly sci major, class of 74.  He went into the airforce right out of college and was a firefighter.  Then a few years later he got out and ran a used boat shop.  Then when I was born he became a stock broker and got his CFP (certified financial planner).  Now I work for him and am working on my CFP.  He also does real estate deals in the southwest, custom homes, hotels/resorts, and casinos.  Probably the most intelligent person I've ever met.  Now I consider myself pretty intelligent, but got a bit of my mom's brain in me and can't compare to his wits.  For a poly sci major he turned out pretty good,  he's making mid 6 figures, oversees about 15 different companies he's started, and keeps me busy with work.

I'm still trying to figure out you get burned out pursuing a Poly Sci degree.

I have my PolSci degree.

When I graduated, I sold TVs, was a bouncer in a bar, gas station attendant, receptionist, video store clerk.

Have been a Mortgage Broker for last 10 years.

Find out what you are good at and do that.    You'll enjoy it and make money.  I'm good at sales.  College is not designed to get you the highest paying job, it's there to help yo ufigure out what you want to do w/your life (apart from drink beer and get laid)

You have no choice but to get an advanced degree in something that will get you a job.

I have a PolySci degree, and it was/is worthless.  I knew that at the time, but took the major so as to get into law school, which I did.  While in law school, I decided I didn't like the legal profession.  Even though I graduated and passed the bar, I went on to get a Master in Public Administration, as I figured the .gov was where I wanted to be (but not as an attorney).

I am currently in the .gov world.  Not that bad.  Good luck.
