When you are in SOMEONE ELSES (i.e. your bosses) business, it is NOT your "private life." |

Bush's first term... I give him a solid B+
His second... he gets a D, maybe a D- after today. It pains me to say this (as a registered Republican & a conservative), but Pres. Bush can go fuck himself! He alienated the conservative base of his party today, make no mistake. And the really sick part of it is that he couldn't care less. |
Do we really know enuf about this nominee to know that? Who would you rather have seen? Phyliss Rogers Brown? Other? |

I'm one of the least Marxist people you'll find anywhere the problem is that you believe all of the "American" propaganda being spouted by the Corporate Oligarchy in this country today. It has nothing to do with getting another job. It has everything to do with the the super rich few controlling every aspect of your life. Did you not see the COTUS trampled in New Orleans? The average Joe's were disarmed while the elite had their own private security forces guarding their gated communities and were not subject to the same laws as the rest of the people there. Concerning the "American Worker" don't you think that someone who goes to work everyday gives 100% effort while on the job to do what's right for the company should get thrown out on his ass because the company can replace him after 25 years of loyal service because they can hire two 22 year olds for 75% of what he was making. Keep believing that elitist shit that the corporate oligarchy is selling you. I'm sure it'll serve you well in the corporate work camps that will be coming so that "America" can be competitive with the rest of the world. |

President GW Bush was the better choice in 2004, but he still isn't conservative enough!
Well, if you don't want to be labelled a Marxist, you REALLY need to stop regurgitating their catch phrases. You've AGAIN hit several of them, and even threw in a few of the 10 Measures of Marxism as well in this post. |

No one ever said being prez is easy. Sometimes you have to do what's right for the country (as he swore to do) and not for his efin PARTY. Mostly I've heard the dems would have been worse. A ringing endorsement if I ever heard one. |

When you are in SOMEONE ELSE'S (i.e. your bosses) business, it is NOT your "private life." No, but when I am at my home it is my private life and companies are now intruding into that aspect of our lives. That my friend I cannot tolerate. These codes are applicable to employees of my company whether they are at work or at home. Read this shit: http://www.lsj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041030/OPINION02/410300314/0/special What if your company stated tomorrow that their new policy was any employee who owned firearms were in violation of the corporate code of conduct? When they let you go the reason for dismissal is "violation of the corporate code of conduct" ever heard of being black balled? |

Garandman... This pick is the worst kind of revolting, squalid cronyism possible!!! In a universe of choices that included Janice Rogers Brown, Scalito, Luttig, Williams, and Edith Jones, George Bush picked this, this....CRONY! This was Bush's great chance to build a legacy for the ages; instead, he reverts to Country Club Republicanism. Simply revolting. Not one thin dime for the RNC from me folks. Bush promised Scalia and Thomas. A broken promise is a broken promise. We're supposed to be different than the Democrats because we hold our leadership to account so that they will learn from their mistakes. Not one thin fucking dime. |

Completley dissapointed, I'v said this before elsewhere Bush has been a huge let down. Like the war on terror but it could be prosecuted with a little larger hammer i.e. if they shoot from a building level it mosque or not. Also his I'll sign the AWB, drug benefits, welcoming all illegals, spending like Paris Hilton on Rodeo etc etc etc.
His last chance with me was to really pick a hardcore conservative, Ginsburg was a known flaming liberal and she got through. My vote was for Rodger-Brown. Oh well, buy all the evil stuff you want now because Prez Clinton will be back in 08 at this rate |
Too much mamby-pamby bullshit, and trying to appease the dims. You got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything, George, and you have proved it! |
One thing I'll say in Bush's favor is I believe he is dedicated to killing terrorist. On the other hand I believe his plan is seriously lacking in aggressiveness.
And don't forget the outstanding job he is doing on the southern border. |
Hey. After getting hammered for months for my complete lack of trust in the mans competence, I get a nice poll like this for an early birthday gift. I wonder where the 56 percent of people are when some of the robo-screamers get going on their often semi-literate character assasination of ANYONE who questions 'the man'.
That said, let's talk about Bush's stellar job of redefining 'War on Terror' to mean quagmire and death in Iraq. I'm not unmindful of some of the benefits we're reaping even as I'm unfailingly critical of the venture as a whole. Surprisingly, muslim sentiment is actually swining towards the US as the brutality of the insurgents reaches new and startling levels. Anyone check the number of troops that the pentagon is saying are 'ready to fight alone' now, after two years of training? It's one batallion. 500 troops. 500 training Iraqi's to fight an insurgency of startling lethality. We, however, for political reasons, seem ready to begin drawing down in a year. Folks, it's the worst of both worlds. Go in based on half cocked notions of liberation and parades for our troops, justified by the fear of WMD's founded on hashed up intelligence, stake a claim on the moral high ground that we will finish the job, and then fail to do so. You can blame the crying lib's or whomever seems to be causing all of our pain, but it's a bully pulpit. If we leave in a year without Iraqi forces able to do our job, we will have been massively outmaneuvered by the most dangerous people to freedom in the world. What a collossal and righteous f*** up. |
Country club conservatism surprises you anymore? Michael brown was a judge for a horse breeding association before he 'got in'. Chertoff isn't much more qualified. For Bush, a leadership mandate was nothing more than 'political capital' to 'spend'. He's the least imaginative and inspirational president we've had since Carter. And the spending, jesus god in heaven with the angels don't even ASK about the spending. Holy crap. Everyone was sold down the river on that one. |
+1 that deserves a second look |
I worked hard for Bush's reelection. I cant say I am a supporter of his now. He has refused to do ANY thing about the invasion of this country by illegals. I will not support any president who will not protect this country. Kerry would of been worse but I cannot say I support Bush anymore. I have had it with the trade agreements and illegals.
I fucking hate GWB now but I think I hate Jimmy more. I am tired of arguing with the liberal iraq talking points but you please FOAD.

On February 15, 2005, Judge Michael Chertoff was sworn in as the second Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Chertoff formerly served as United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Secretary Chertoff was previously confirmed by the Senate to serve in the Bush Administration as Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division at the Department of Justice. As Assistant Attorney General, he helped trace the 9/11 terrorist attacks to the al-Qaida network, and worked to increase information sharing within the FBI and with state and local officials. Before joining the Bush Administration, Chertoff was a Partner in the law firm of Latham & Watkins. From 1994 to 1996, he served as Special Counsel for the U.S. Senate Whitewater Committee. Prior to that, Chertoff spent more than a decade as a federal prosecutor, including service as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, and Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. As United States Attorney, Chertoff investigated and prosecuted several significant cases of political corruption, organized crime, and corporate fraud. Chertoff graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1975 and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1978. From 1979-1980 he served as a clerk to Supreme Court Justice William Brennan, Jr. He looks pretty qualified to me. Of course I don't have your expertise in evaluating the resumes for potential Homeland Security Directors. |

Then man up and knock it off. (and please don't choke me...) |

That simply IS NOT happenning in any large scale. The sky is, in fact, NOT falling.
As a corporate controller who JUST renewed the group medical plan for my company, I can tell you health care costs are spiralling out of control. Smokers are a group of people causing that increase, making it near impossible to provide medical benefits for other employees. Yuu know, the people NOT trying to kill themselves one puff at a time. In fact, smoking is CAUSING BILLIONS of dollars of extra expense for employers. So that is NOT "private life" either. "The right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins." Smokers are swinging their fist into business owners noses, AS WELL AS other emplyees noses who's group med benefits are jeopardized due to smokers bent to kill themselves slowly. If smokers want to do that, FINE. But don't expect your employer to pay for it. YOu won't like this, and you'll whine and moan, but in doing so, you'll give strong evidence you don't understand the reality of what I just posted.
What if this? What if that? You hypotheticals are nothing but boogeymen. They are NOT proof of your suppostion. But the fact remains. Here in America, if you don't like your emplyers policies, no one is forcing or even begging you to stay. GET ANOTHER JOB. Its a free country. |

This thread reminds me of a popular saying...
"I told you so." Thanks for believing me. I just wish it hadn't come so late. |
Had everyone here done what you asked it wouldn't have changed anything. The game is rigged to the two party system. Had everyone in the country done what you asked, it would only be a matter of time till we were in the same problem. "Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely." The only difference between the current group of skalliwags, and your favorite group of skalliwags is....time and opportunity. |

Disappointed
He based his re-election on fixing social security. Once he was re-elected he caved in like a little girl. As garandman said he had the bully pulpit and the momentum coming off the election and he blew it. He has done nothing with illegal immagration and trashed the Minutemen. He has yet to veto a spending bill and has done nothing to renew American's energy to combat radical Islam. He is a good and decent person, I am glad he is POTUS and not Kerry or Gore. I wish some one in the Republican party could raise up and lead on a conservative/limited government platform. |
He aint a conservative, that's for sure.
WOT- i like it. Iraqi citizens? Couldn't care less. Overall, i approve in this area Borders? WTF, need closing. Rating: Terrible Spending like a liberal democrat. Rating: poor Not decisive enough on SS reform. Hasn't slashed enough of the socialistic government programs. Gun control- He's stayed out of our business. Rating: Satisfactory Military spending- He's increased saleries a bit, not as much as i'd like though. Still: Satisfactory Overall I'd rate him slightly Unsat. He isn't a real conservative, period. The most important thing in the Bush presidecncy are his supreme court nominations. Thank god for them. |
Can't get behind him too much these days. Seems like we got a long list of promises about what they would fight for and big hand full of manure when it came time to deliver. All the things that excited me about his second term have fizzeled out and died. Now he doesn't even seem able to fight to put a solid conservative judge on the SC. Looks to me like the (R) party has lost it's rudder. We're just drifting around fighting off one crises after the other. No initiative to take the fight to the other side and push for something.
I hope for better, but for now I'm not terribly impressed with the first year. |
I voted "yea" since the alterrnative would have been FAR worse and overall I think he has done a good job... 911, war on terror, and economy. There have been several missed opportunities and immigration policy is a dissapointment, however, in my mind these don't counterbalance the positive things.
56% disappointed
44% pleased That's as bad as going to a football home game, and having over half the crowd booing the home team all game long. |
Disappointed
Things I think he handled well: 9/11 and the beginning of the Iraq war, up until a few months after the Iraq army and Saddam were destroyed. Things that dissappoint me: Nothing done about illegal immigration/terrorists/criminals coming through the borders, Judicial picks: no track record of being a strict constitutionalist= problems, social security reform never happened, Current problems in Iraq- no real strategy on finishing what was started there, the govt is growing bigger and spending more, the Katrina Fiasco including FEMA and the Billions we as taxpayers will pay, Disaster prep problems as shown with the hurricanes and a small aircraft violating DC airspace, Bush being an ISLAM/Muslim apolagist, Foreign Policy problems, the USA handouts to other countries, no UN reform, Energy problems, etc, etc, etc, etc, the list goes on and on. Basically Bush has done almost nothing to benefit this country, even though the Republicans dominate the House, Senate, and White House. I have voted strict Republican in all presidential elections. That is changing as I will vote 3rd party or democrat unless the Republicans put forward a true conservative. |
bush is a fucking pussy, instead of pandering to the libs/MSM he should be telling them to go fuck themselves and do what the voters who elected him want. the libs/MSM are never going to like him so what has he got to lose?
I have been a conservative voter since I first voted at 18. Until now, Republicans have gotten my votes as, well, there has been little choice.
Over the years, there have been better Republicans than others in the WH, Reagan tops the list naturally and GWB's first term held promise and strength as the administration dealt with terror and a decent, but not great, economy. Now, however, GWB's second term is looking like he's going to spend the next three and a half years paying back the IOUs to his father's one world, moderate to liberal Republican buddies. GWB has disappointed me with both of his USSC picks. I'm willing to adopt a wait and see attitude on Roberts, he may yet do good things. But this last nomination of an attorney, no matter how brilliant she may be, with no judicial experience, when there were several extremely capable, and conservative, federal jurists from whom to choose, sorry George, you're losing me. Alice Batchelder from the 6th Circuit would have been the ideal candidate, a conservative woman from a crucial state (Ohio) would have done wonders for Republicans in '06. Alas, no.... Aside from the courts, GWB's policies concerning the construction of a terrorist state inside Israel, his complete and utter failure to secure US borders, further restricting firearms via part import restrictions, and what seems to me to be a growing lack of vision are causing me to look elsewhere for a party that represents me as a conservative voter. Republicans, at least those inside the beltway, have forgotten that they won the last three elections ('00, '02, and '04, for those of you in California.) and have caved to the Democrats at almost every turn. How does one start a new political party? |
I think "pissed" falls into #2.
The man has turned into a failure since his re-election. IF it were possible for him to run again, even if the alternative was kerry, there's no way in HELL I'd vote for him now. |
While that is wonderful, there are a litany of issues that have been brought up in this thread that should make all conservatives feel a measure of dissapointment. And how many gun control laws did the President veto? We owe more thanks to Tom Delay, Dennis Hastert, Bill Frist and Larry Craig than the President |
Look, he needs to build new refineries, drill more here in the states, and tell arabs to go F*** off.
We would all love Bush if gas was $1.50 a gallon. |
You can bet your last dollar on this earth that his first veto in his history as president would not have been that one. You're totally correct in that the heros of that fight were not in the oval office, they were in the capitol. He didn't push for it, but he certainly didn't spend any effort to work against it either. |
How the hell can you say Bush is pro-2A? He said if he got an AWB extention, he would sign it, but never said anything to congress to about pushing one to him. I haven't hurt a blurp from him about the 2A except that one time; and last time I checked about grading some one is, if you get only one test and fail that one, you fail the course.
I was tepidly on his side up until the Miers nomination. His lack of will to stick it to the Democrats makes him a FUCKSTICK!
Um...Since Garandman isn't here...he could give a rat's ass...*I* on the other hand think they're not because they're all Red Sox fans... Personally...I'm a little scared to say this, but I agree with Garandman...he's wasted his second term. The man got elected the first time on Electorals, not individual votes. The way I see it, if ya take office with more than half the nation not in support of you, you have to prove yourself...did he? If he had, I doubt that the second term election would have been so close. Dubya should have seized the opportunity to prove himself worthy of the the trust during this second term...but he didn't. Again, I think it brings up the term limit question...seems to me if there's no incentive to do a good job, some may not: if ya screw up the first time there is no second time (as his daddy and other one term presidents found out). But if you screw up the second time, well...what's the penalty? |
The penalty could be the other political party getting elected the next time around |
OK..I'll bite...When Dubya retires to his ranch in Texas, ya think he's gonna give a rat's ass or even turn on C-Span for that matter? |
Option 3: Better than Kerry
He's definitely wasted a lot of good opportunities to make some things better... particularly immigration during the Minuteman's watch. I suppose his avoiding 2nd Amendment issues as opposed to risking botching it up is acceptable. We did get the AWB dropped and so far they haven't made any real attempt to get a new one put into effect. Probably because they're waiting for Hilary to do it in '08. He could do more but considering what a bumbling idiot he can be I'd rather not risk it. Not sure about this new nomination chick... we'll see how that pans out. She's a woman so I don't think she'll be worth a damn but Condi is my shining hope that women in politics aren't all bad. |
I can't answer a 100%/0% question like this when I'm somewhere in the middle.
Should I have lied? Ok, I think Hillary Clinton and Diane Feinstein are the best politicians and the fact that they're women just makes me proud to live in such an open minded society to put such bright women in positions of power. |
Oh please! Are you REALLY going to use THAT as your argument??? How 'bout we look at the long list of politicians who've used their offices for personal gain...I'll bet most of them have a penis...and NOT the kind with AA batteries! |
