Fake
Pic #2 the proportions are all wrong.  The knots of rope holding the birdhouse up are large due to their close proximity to the camera...as if the photographer is standing just below and to the right of the rope.  Now,  follow the rope to the bear...kinda looks like the rope has moved away from you into the bears mouth and paws.  For that matter, when the rope reappears on the other side of the leaves, the ascending angle isn't the same as the rope leaving the bears paw.

I vote real. New ropes can easily support a bear if they are mounted correctly...that and I think the rope is a little heavy duty for a bird feeder.

Looks real.

Next time you're at the store, check out the weight bearing capacities of nylon rope. You'd be surprised how much it can support.

I'd say FAKE. I'm a graphic artist and the edges look cut and feathered. If it were real the bear shouldn't appear so smooth on the edges. It is very difficult and time consuming to mask an object especialy with hair or fur. The edges of the bear just don't look right.

if its a fake is a damn good one, don't see anything at 20x zoom, it would be hard as hell to do all the leaves.

By the way, in the last picture, it looks like if that bear falls, he'll be impaled on that steel rod in the ground.

Bears aren't smart enough to think of that shit, dude.

Regardless of the ropes tensile strength... the line is actually tied to another line. That greatly

decreases the likelihood that the rope could withstand so great a weight because knots in Nylon cable

are notoriously weak.

Uh? Sorry?

When you tie something, the weak point is the knot, yes, but anyone that knows anything about knots knows that a knot can be incredibly strong, especially if it's looped over itself using friction like that knot is. If it slips it looks like it would only tighten itself more.

I know there's a difference between nylon rope and nylon cord, like climbing cord, but there's a reason why climbers use nylon cord.

Look close and the rope goes behind the bears hand.  Someone forgot to put the rope line in there!

As promised, this is the source of the photos, I've got the full size originals if someone wants me to email them to host. I also have some pics of a gator carrying a deer thru the water.
