Notice how some parts appeared to fly in the direction of the shooter? Now, where have we seen this type of thing before?

For some reason, that reminded me of a news-show that I saw a long time ago. Somebody (I really cannot remember if it was a news broadcast or something along those lines), took an AK and shot a watermelon with it. Then, to show how a "sporting rifle" did, took a Weatherby Mark V and shot another watermelon, which pretty much disintergrated.

I remember that too, I was a real young kid when I saw it and didn't know about any kind of guns except crosmans, maybe tube-fed marlins but I still remember it to this day everytime I hear about "high powered assault weapons" Where did I see it though??? |

Good points. I was just thinking of the cranial tissue and bone in the trunk lid of the limo. This isn't the place to go into the Assassination thing, tho. Some other time, maybe, DPeacher.

I don't know if this is what you're referring to, but back in '89, after Patrick Purdy shot a bunch of kids in a schoolyard in Stockton, CA, a local NBC news affiliate filmed someone shooting a watermelon with an AK47, same rifle Purdy used. The FMJ just poked little .30" holes in it and went on through. Then a police officer shot it with his duty Beretta loaded with 9mm hollowpoints. The watermelon exploded. [i]THAT[/i] was the footage that made the nightly news showing how deadly AK47s are. The old NBC bait-and-switch routine. That incident was a precursor to the '89 California assault weapons ban. |

That would be something to show. Have an AR, an AK and a FAL each fire NATO rounds at a watermelon. Then use 3 common hunting rounds through bolt actions. Hollowpoint handgun rounds would be good also.

wmmitty, I saw that one too. The took out various watermelons with 'assault rifles', making the little holes. Then they used a 30.06 and blowed it up real good.

Didn't he even have a few rounds lined up and said "This is what they want to ban" (holds up an AK47 round) "And this is what people hunt with" (30.06) [?]

OH GOOD GRIEF. Why do we need to get analytical about such wonderful destruction. That piece of produce could have been used to feed starving third world children in my fields. I love death and destruction.
