Oh man, is this going to get me in trouble, my bug out pack is my old LBE with 4 M14 mag pouches and 8 FAL mags. Internal frame ruck with 6 MREs, two changes of clothing, and 200 rounds of .308 ammo, one 2 qt canteen on the ruck and two 1 qt canteens on the belt. First aid kit in the ruck and another on the pistol belt. Speed loader pouch on the belt for the S&W 629 also on the belt, and another 50 rounds in the ruck. The rifle of course is an FAL, the #3 daughter has rights to the AR, # 2 to the M17s and the wife gets the M1A1 carbine. All rucks set up about the same except for ammo. A shelter is split between the 4 of us. A lot of other little things but to much to go into here.

Till I dump my POS non-functioning carbon-15 and get a new dissipator I'm assed out as far as a rifle goes, so I have to rely on my Mossy 590 full'a 00 buck to get me outta town. Got an over-the-shoulder pack from the gap that has 3 exterior pockets that holds six 30 rd mags perfectly (lotta goog that's gonna do me till I get the bushy) but now its loaded with 100 rds of extra buck and 200 rds of #6 shot, in case I need to shoot something to eat at some point.  I have a bunch of other stuff ready to go, but this is the "get out of dodge NOW" stuff.

We're not going anywhere.
Civil unrest in the city means we're gonna calmly get out the hardware and become "ensconced defenders".
The cars will quickly be repositioned for maximum cover, and rapid deployment, if the need should arise to relocate.
The lights go out and we stay tuned for "them" to come to us.
Perimeter intruders will be dropped on sight and left where they are for good effect.
Law Enforcement and Military personnel will be required to properly ID themselves (unless they nuke us out of the house) and will recognize us as the rightful occupants of the dwelling.  A means to identify occupants of the dwelling other than us is in place should we be held hostage or killed.
Call first and knock loudly when you arrive...thanks for coming by.

All of above, and a one Lynn Thompson's Cold Steel Recon 7 1/2" Scout with and 9 1/2" Trailmaster.

uncle buck, HKocher, & 7: You guys are totally right about TP.  Major Surplus Inc. of Gardena, Calif, did an article about survival, and found that the toliet facilities made things very unbearable.  So I carry a portable collapsible toliet in my duffle bag.

Well, as a trained high explosives expert I have wired my entire "Compound" to the hilt.

If my Dissipator and the M4 don't get the job done then I guess I'll just have to blow up the whole block (only when as many JBTs as possible are in the area though)

BUSMASTER007- What's my secret knock again?? I forgot it [:)]

Setup is much like 80906's, but all ammo is for the AR, everything is stuffed into a covert TheNorthFace-non-scary ruck which is large enough to carry the AR inside if necessary. Girlfriend gets the HK93 and P226 which have a Blackhawk crossdraw vest loaded-up ready in the northface pack. There's a vest in there for me as well which can go under the pack straps if I want. I carry a Microfilter for water, too; saves on weight.
And if I go hunting or backpacking I just toss the ammo/vests out, throw in more food, throw in camo or shorts, and I'm ready to go in five minutes.
We have water everywhere around here so I NEVER take the fishin pole or lures out of the ruck.

I have in a rucksack next to my bed: Palm Pilot VII, Blackberry pager, Nokia cell, extra battery pack for all - of course, SPF 45 sunblock, 3 32oz. Pellegrino bottles(love the fizz), 2 boxes of strawberry/raisin Nutri-grain bars, coreless toilet paper(extra soft), a copy of the Prarrie Home Companion, a copy of How To Effectively Communicate Under Stress(2001 updated edition), a big Maglite - I mean big, hehe. An extra pair of comfortable walking shoes, 6 pairs of silk boxers(and bottle of Woolite if I can't get to a proper laundromat), a credit card in case I lose my carry cash, My Persol sunglasses with UVA AND UVB protection, and most important of all my Zagat Guide for those out of the way restaurant treasures.

One thing conspicuously absent from these lists is some body armor.  You'll never use the stuff camping or at the range, but it will be awfully nice to have if someone is actually throwing lead in your direction.  Surplus level III vests are now available at a reasonable price, along with PASGT helmets.  I picked up a like-new vest with the hard plates that will stop a .308 for only $300.  Might be a better investment than getting yet another rifle for Christmas.

We all know if the SHTF there would be a BIG mess, so I have a few rules, and have done a few things for insurance:

1. I always store the "S" away from the "F", and I keep it locked up!

2. Never point a "F" at something unless you want "S" on it!

3. Always assume that there is "S" around when the "F" is on!

4. Never climb a tree, jump a ditch or plug into a socket a "F" with "S" on it.

4. If all else fails, I have a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, three rolls of paper towels, and a cell phone with speed dial for the local carpet cleaners, because getting the "S" out of the carpet can be a real "B"

Man, I thought I was paranoid and I live in L.A.!  I think the only thing we have to worry about here is the natives becoming restless again. (Remember the riots?)[smash]  None the less, the misses and I have both of our ARs on standby along with a Mak-90 and a 100rd drum ready to crank.   A couple of Beretta Cougars, 9 for her & .40 for me, are ready to pounce when needed along with a bunch of other misc. guns.[;)]  As for TP, if it gets really bad, I'll just raid the nearest Costco for a 24-pack and a case of beer!

don't you guys always wear your kevlar? I mean, yeah, I hide the tinfoil under my helmet liner so I don't give-off any light signatures, but no one ever notices my vests. I feel warm and fuzzy when I have them on. Come on guys...you're just kidding right? You always wear yours, too...dontcha?
