I was just wondering what types of animals have been shot out there with Ar's and what the effects were. I've only shot at "paper" so I'm rather curious. Also was there a need for more than one shot and at what distance was the shot taken?

Have not blooded my AR-10 yet but I hope to this hunting season.  I did kill a pigeon one shot dead center 22yards off the crest of my roof about a month ago (Ruger P89 with black talon) and scatter gunned 7 starlings so far this season.  Planerench out.

I killed some magpies with my .22 and Aguila colibris lately.  bastards swing by my house at 6am, begin screaming.

Something I have discovered is that they mourn their dead.  If they spot the corpse of another magpie, they start squaking and calling all their friends to look and pay their respects.

Of course, when they do this outside my window, it leads to more dead magpies!

wait till the first freeze and it's on! I got a new bushnell red-dot that oughta make even running bunnys and squirrels smack right into a "deuce-deuce" super-x.

wonder if steel-core ammo from an AR will hold together and not shred them? I don't want rabbit paste!

I've shot ground hogs using my Bushy HBar with surplus 55gr FMJ's. Most of the time they looked like they had been hit with an axe. Many times I've taken off legs as well.

Well, a buddy of mine took some old beater uppers and we've been using them for .22 blasters.

The other day we shot up some frogs. Lots and lots of frogs.

It cracked me up, some of them would go flying through the air head over legs, like they were doing cartwheels throught the air.

HA-HA! It was PETA-Rific!

Oh, and it was from about 5 feet to 25 yards.

I just got through mowing down two rows of corn stalks with my bushy,(bushhog that is). You should have heard the screaming and pleading they did to try to spare their lives. After I robber them of all they were worth by chopping off their ears, death might have been a relief.

Buddy and I went blasting jackrabbits with my 10/22 last week, I was impressed with what Federal hi-velocity hollow points will do to a bunny... Got one that was running across the road at about 50-60 yards, hit him broadside and he just dropped. He had a typical entry wound on one side, 2 1/2" exit wound on other side which completely blew off his right front leg. Not bad for the lowly .22!  Only ever shot one rabbit with an AR, using 46 grain Varmint bullets moving at 3600fps (so the box says), what I can say is that that damn bunny never new what happened, the bullet kinda turned him inside out is the only way to describe it.

Oh, I learned this on my last outing; if a critter is wounded and you want to put him out of it, DO NOT put your .40 to the back of his head and squeeze off a hydra-shok, it's messy as hell. Brains all over me.

Only thing I ever shot with AR was a racoon. 62 grn FMJ at about 30 feet( up in a tree). If my dog trees it he gets it to play with, thats our agreement. Have shot dozens of them with a 10/22 with HV hollow pnts. They usually don't die with one shot from the 22 but the 223 doesn't leave alot for the dog to play with. Have shot a couple with my 45 from less than 10 feet (180 grn wide mouth hollow pnt) that made a pretty good mess too.

I recently reeducated a whole village. AR's are great for close in work. Just make sure you use heavy bullets for maximum penetration/expansion.

Tuesday evening I took three groundhogs out of the hayfields; two at 250 yards and one at 160 yards.  All were one shot kills with NOsler 55 grain ballistic tips at 3200fps and none were spectacular; even head shots are just a little exit hole.  I did one at 403 yards last week, one shot to the head (more luck than placement), again no red mist.  Try the same thing with a .270 and a 110 grain Hornady VMax and there will be Groundhog Surprise for a two square yard area behind the impact zone.  Not very spectacular.  In fact, I shot one pig 6 times; it was determined to get to its hole; I think that was a pretty extreme case.  I don't know if its the cartridge or the bullet, but I can't say the 'terminal ballistic performance' is exactly explosive.

On a hot December night last year, an Eastern Grey kangaroo decided to cross the Hume Hwy at 'full' hopping speed, and colllided with by '91 Ford Flacon XF utility. Mr Roo was killed instantly, and my ute had $A1600. damage. Its fixed now, as for the roo, I made sure he was dead, dragged his body off the carriageway, and carried on to Canberra to the War Memorial for the wknd. Hwy speed is 110kph on that road.

To all the trigger happy barbarians out there in the sticks that have consumed way to much Blueribbon or Mickeys (whichever is on sale this week)do yourselves a favor and conduct a real test to see what the "effects" are.Instead of the HELPLESS bunnies, groundhogs, gophers, raccoons.....you guys slaughter(not for food but "effects") just go for big game...
EACHOTHER!!! It will be great a good ol' fashion blood bath! And all of us PETA jerks can just sit back and watch the "red mist".     P.S. The blood doesn't wash off when its on your hands.

Fuck a "helpless" bunny.  The damn things are everywhere here, I'm simply contributing to much needed population control.  Hell, I met an alfalfa farmer who'll buy you a brick of .22's to come out and plink at the "helpless" bunnies that destroy his crops.
