Quoted: Alright cut the bullshit out of this thread ASAP. If you want to discuss this, fine, then we do it here and now, if you guys want to get on each other or slip in non-related bullshit then stay the hell out of it. crowboy, I agree that much anti-leo crap has been posted here and anything which is beyond a discussion should be nuked along with the party involved. miss magnum, I agree that anti-women crap makes it through our defenses. Either we dont see it (ala me not reading most things here) or we shrug it off. Again, anything which is beyond a discussion will be nuked. heilo, that comment wasn't funny although meant to be. Things like that may be laughable, but sometimes its the wrong time and place for them. hangfire, while your point may have some validity, what miss magnum does outside of this site is no concern of mine as long as it does not affect it. Don't look down on people and don't antagonize them. You're small pokes at McUzi to provoke him do not go undetected. Many times issues which arise are because we don't catch them in time, or because we are human and we let things slide without thinking. Such is life, nobody is perfect. I do not want the site-wide bannings or locking of topics which may be on the "edge." I want anything that is OVER the edge to be trashed. I don't care if it's racism, sexism, religious, or momma jokes. If it looks like it's degraded to an argument or downright offensive in nature, then it will be gone. If we don't catch it, then you let us know. Like I said, if we need more head count, then so be it, but I do not want the GD to turn into a urinal. Discussions are good and healthy. We're not here to agree on things and we learn from those who have differing opinions. BUT to try to provoke others to anger or to post anger filled items will not be tolerated. -- GB View Quote |

Agreed. Done.
I consider y'all like family... every once in a while I think we need to clear the air. I feel better. [:D] |

That was quite a bitch session. I think there was about 10 different folks, complaining about 20 different issues.
I need a group hug... |

Miss Magnum:
I actually did respond to your posts, but in "generic" fashion... I had specific topics that I watched out for, and 90% of the time, the offending posts were from the same handful of trolls... The other threads that were generally "axed", took place when I received emails from others asking for this to be done, and clarifing why. View Quote I further clarified that I too had occassionally been sucked into the negativity in certain threads, and without dredging up the past, I think you know EXACTLY what I'm referring to here! What I'm referring to involved an assinine comment that I directed towards you and another member a long time ago... I opted to keep the post a bit more on the cryptic side, since it ONLY involved us, and we euphamistically "kissed and made up". [*] All this coming from the "Flare Witch" that was so quick to climb into my tent and fondle my gun... [rolleyes] -- Sorry, but there actually is humor in that comment! |

Quoted: I do not want the site-wide bannings or locking of topics which may be on the "edge." View Quote Ya know, much as no one wants to admit it, there may not be any choice. From what I have seen observing internet message boards over the last few years, there are basically only two ways to go: the ak-47.net way and thefiringline.com way. On ak-47.net, GD is totally unmoderated and everything except spam is allowed. Yes, there are flame wars and porn, but it was "successful" in the sense that the site was enormously popular until the owner abandoned it. On TFL, NO debate on controversial and divisive subjects is allowed. None. Those topics are locked and anyone who tries to insert such a debate into another thread has their posts deleted or edited. This is also successful in that TFL is a well respected site that attracts some big names in the firearms industry. I have yet to see a "middle ground" between those two that can work practically. |

Of course, next time things melt down into a bitch and complain session, I will avoid any semblance of humor and air my grievances also. My paddle is put away, feel free to come out and play. |

Hi,
For the most part I usually just lurk the AR15.com forums (and have for quite a few years). Now I feel compelled to say that if I was running this board, I'd HAPPILY boot any and all race bashers off the site forever and ever. I'd quite simply say "The 1st Amm. does not extend itself to privately run forums, go someplace else." But I've read this whole tired thread and still just one question lingers: You can hunt turkey with an AR ?!?!?!? |
|
You can hunt turkey with an AR ?!?!?!? View Quote Sure, most of the quality rifles are capable of a sub MOA neck shot out to 100yds... That's the beauty of AR's! [}:D] |

I'm trying to let this go but it's soooo hard...
Anti.. ironically, I hadn't realized it until a private email a few moments ago but two of the instances where women were labeled in an offensive manner involved two moderators.... yourself and garandman. garandman referred to certain women as "wh0re$".. a label I would find as objectionable as someone called a black person the "n" word. But there was very little controversy over that comment. Not nearly to the degree we've seen here. And, Rik, you're right... if there's to be no controversy there has to be ABSOLUTE moderation of everything non-PC that might offend someone. Now, I ask the members of the board, do you really want to be babysat that much?? I don't. And that's why I'm trying to point out that we shouldn't be getting so freakin' offended over somebody's OPINION. |

Cool!
Go easy on me though Miss Magnum, couldn't we start with something a wee bit smaller? |

Most of the problem threads sound like my wife's special ed. classes. Name calling and negative characterizations are just "acting out" activities that most leave behind to a great extent in high school. Hopefully, people find a better way to draw attention to themselves. They also find they are required in society to develop better inter-personal skills, be cooperative and have a positive outlook, especially in the market place.
Some fail. We have prisons......and locked threads....different situations....and different criteria. |

I actually visited the two boards Paul listed and the Assultweb site the first name that popped out on the discussion board was that bible thumpin ayatohla (sp?) wanna be Belloc, that idiot would shoot gays on sight and make you go to church at the point of gun if need be. Thats pretty much all I need to see for that site.
Then I went to this Mcuzi place I have read so much about. I have been dyin to know who was the little idiot in the picture of the ninja joke that keeps poppin up here, now I know. What a pathetic little nancey boy. I wonder if the little weenie has gotten any closer to military service than watching all of the rambo movies. Then I actually went to the race board, boy thats the kind of thing that makes you real proud to be white (sic). Its idiots like the ones on those two boards that give fodder to the antis's but it is a free country. I wonder if someone snuck up behind the McLoser ninja while he was slicin tomatoes at his McJob and yelled BOO!! if he would wet his pants. I say boot 'em off and keep 'em off. If you can do it I will join and pay the membership fee. |

I actually like threads involving volatile topics. It gives me a good idead of what members are like beyond sharing an interest in the AR.

I don't mind the arguing is just when it get out of hand and we have people yelling obsenities and racial slurs at each other. We all can do without that. If you don't like it then leave! You won't be missed.

Hey All You guys & gals, white/black/yellow/orange/green, Catholic, Protestant, ... or whatever demographic you want to align yourself most closely with.
Relax Take a Deep Breath! You must realize there are many members here with multiple accounts that like to engage in arguments with themselves. The anonymity the Internet affords us is a beautiful thing. It allows people the opportunity to vent and state their opinions, which are usually kept hidden. Why allow yourselves to get baited into such acrimony over someone else’s ramblings. Nobody is going to change neither opinions nor beliefs based upon what they read here. I visit here everyday and read practically every thread and on occasion post my thoughts and or advice on topics that matter to me. I’m here to gain some more knowledge of shooting. I’m not here to rack up the points/posts. I never expect anyone to ever agree with me or like what I write. You can even ignore me (most likely the case). My feelings won't be hurt nor my beliefs changed. Always remember the one demographic that we all share: The love of firearms, especially the AR15. |

I don't think banning a member is the answer, what would keep the person from just signing up under another name? Their is no way to stop racial controversy, it has been going on since the beginning of time, we are all guilty. I agree with others who say if it offends you turn the other cheek, if that doesn't work, you can always leave. Is AR15.COM going to become a Politically Correct wonderland, that never has anything that will offend anyone posted? If so the site will loose all of that which made me join to begin with.(Remember if we were PC no one would own firearms). I agree some threads need to be locked, but careful consideration should be given before such a drastic measure is taken. Hope I never offend anyone, it is against my Southern upbringing, thanks for listening....Confederate[:)]
