A question,
can people still buy threaded barrells for ar15's?  
Someone asked me, and I don't know.

yes a threaded barrel is just that a threaded barrel. when u install it thu then the Crime bill aka AW ban comes into play

You can still buy a threaded barrel and put it on a preban rifle.  You can also attach a muzzle brake to the threaded barrel permanently and put it on a postban.

A threaded barrel isn't restricted at all.  You can make 'em all day long.  You can install them on any upper you desire, too.

Legal problems arise when that barrel is used on a postban lower and becomes a complete firearm.

it might be more accurate to say they cannot be attached to whatever portion of the rifle counts as the BATF registered portion.

On an AR that is the lower.
On a FAL that is the upper.

Splitting hairs probably...but it's the registered piece that is the firearm.
