Recently a patient threatened to sue me for 'pain and suffering' because I wouldn't refill his vicodin after the pharmacist called me to say that she witnessed him selling his last prescription in the parking lot of the pharmacy.
I have to tip-toe through my dictations because a lot of people have taken the new HIPPA regulations to heart. It allows patients to ask for inaccuracies to be corrected in their doctor's notes. I have no problem with that, but so far, people have only challenged my physical exams which are
my observations and only in cases where they are applying for Social Security Disability. IOW, they are asking me to
change my notes lie.
I
never call someone 'fat' or even 'obese'. I swear I've come up with my own expression:
"The patient is significantly above their ideal body weight.", lest I offend anyone.
I don't have the time or patience to start explaining myself to the State Medical Board. They take great pleasure in fucking doctors in the ass over the most trivial of complaints.
