Its free if you just drive off.  No one will chase you because gas is too expensive.

85 octane isn't crap.  It is the best gas for use at higher altitudes for cars for which 87 octane is recommended.  Higher octane is an indication of higher resistance to knocking ONLY, not quality or power or energy content or anything else.  If your car is designed for 87 then 85 is great at mile high altitudes since lower atmospheric pressures make knocking less prevalent.

85 actually contains more gasoline per gallon than 87 89 91 or 93, since there is less octane present.

Also, for best mileage, avoid ethanol.  I get 3-4% better mileage with non E-15 gas.
