what are the exact shipping charges for ammo? do they really tack on the extra fee you see near case lots on thier website. ex:$22 weight fee for a 1000rds of 308. is that the straight shipping charge or an add-on to another s&h charge?

It's in addition to the normal total price based s&h charge.  I ordered 2700 rounds of .223 through them a couple months back and the $40 in s&h charges were offset by the 20% discount on the whole order.  But I don't think they're doing those discounts anymore.  Apparently too many of us did this with heavy, low margin purchases of ammo. [:)]

Here's some coupons but not the 20%, and it looks like it's better to break orders into $100 increments:
