Was just told by my local gun store that the Remington PSS is LEO and if he sold one to me he would not be able to sell Remingtons. Whats the deal with LEO bolt actions? Anyone know where to get one in NC? or am I going to have to bite the bullet and drop $5000.00 for a Chandler?

Go to another gun store. Also, NIB 700P's (as they are now designated) show up on www.subguns.com Non-NFA Ad board all the time... Usually for better prices than what dealers are asking (surprise!).

Unless something has changed from about two years ago, this is a Remington policy statement and unenforced.  I bought my PSS DM new from the dealer.  I doubt that Remington want's to drop any dealer that moves significant product.

You'll find that the "hunter only" dealers will follow it, but most others will ignore it.

It's a shame that the typical hunter isn't pro second ammendment.  I actually subconciously hope that the anti's do indeed go after "sniper" rifles, to wake these guys up!

Remington may have become more strict though.

ADTECHARMS - you will be served as well by Jerry Rice or George Gardner at half the price of the Chandlers

Not being a major gunsmith devotee, who are those guys? Former RTE 2112s?

Jarhead out.

If you are going to spend 5K, why not look at AI's line of AW rifles?

for your PSS call Tony at Town Police Supply in Collinsville, VA  1-800-752-5580. He has them all the time, 223, 308, and 300 winmag. Price is about $669.00 and shipping is $15. No fee for credit cards. He's a great guy to deal with.

Got that from a couple places, too. Even the place that sold me my PSS in .308. I am waiting for them to get in a few LTR's..

Would you guys get the detach mag, or just stay with the internal?  why/why not?

Also which caliber, .308 or .300 WM? Why/why not?

If you get a 700PSS with a detachable mag make sure it's with the newer magazines.  Remington had some trouble with the early DM models.

Without.  Then have it converted to accept M14 mags if you like.

Depend on the shooter choice. I selected .308 because:

1- Plenty out there to choose from.
2- I have other guns which also shoot .308
3- Good accuracy
