Wow-you'd have to really fuck a carbon stock up to be more than a pound,.... I can see why you guys want one.

That mold fee of $400 would be my cost on getting something done.  Not what I would charge the customer to make one.

OK guys, looks like this might be taking off somewhere.  I talked it over with my partner and I think we are going to make a try at it.

What I am looking for is a Stock to pop a mold off of it.  I am going to need it for sometime so I can compare the stock with the one I make from the mold.  I am willing to buy on from someone!

Lets see where this will lead!

I'd be interested in an M1a stock and top cover....

I was going to order one but I am clueless to the M1a platform.  What stock is everyone wanting for this project?

Please let me know!  I would like to order one for the molding process today!

Haven't read the whole thread yet but I'd vote for:

• An M1A stock

• M1A handguard (I'd buy a couple handguards for sure - one with an opening for a Scout/squad forward mount)

and

• 1911 grips (esp. thin ones for Para Ordnance type widebody frames)

*drools* I love the look of CF!

Im getting a lot of request but I am not quite up on all gun knowledge with all the parts.  If you can post pics of the things you request that would help me out to get an understanding on parts.

The M1a looks like it will be the first thing to start.  Im just trying to find out what stock to order to make the mold.  Remember we are set up to do a production run and not really one offs.  So please keep that in mind!

Boyd's only has wood stocks, which I think would be a waste for prototyping.

See if you could find a synthetic (fiberglass) stock, I know Fred's has them for around 35$, but I think you could find one on EBAY or the equipment exchange for much cheaper.

Most m14 stocks are the same pattern, the only variations being that some of the National Match wood stocks have more material  under the barrel (for additional weight, for benchrest shooting), and the m14e2 stocks which have a little pistol grip.

Synthetic stocks are all the same pattern.

Handgun grips. There's a big market there, so that's a suggestion. I also think a Remmington "tactical" 700 stock in carbon fiber would sell.

The wheels look bitchin! I may have missed it, but how much do you charge for them? Can you do any bolt pattern and offset?

I would love a Carbon Fiber British Pattern FAL stock.  I know there are more metric pattern rifles in the country but for US parts compliance, those of us who own Brit pattern rifles have two choices, Ironwood or Century cheap plastic.

We should have a vote and see what's most popular.  Here's what I propose as initial choices:

AR15 forend and stock
M1A Stock
FAL Stock set
Remington 870 Stock and Forend
Maybe a 10-22 stock?

Yes, you get get a matte clear coat.  I wonder what their heat signature is, or fast they dissipate heat for avoiding FLIR.

Sound suppressor.

It's already being done, but I'd love to see other companies get into making sound suppressors out of different/exotic materials.

But unless you can produce a product that is TOTALLY impervious to solvents, it's a waste of time and effort; just ask PRI why they starting coating their raw carbon fiber FF tubes.

thank you for the link and I think I got that problem taken care of.  We also have to deal with this kind of stuff when we do car and military products!

I'd love to see a line of Carbon Fiber grips for the Sig Sauer line up.  Especially the P225.  The wood grips that are available sometimes bulk the gun up too much for carry, but CF is able to stay thin like the factory grips, yet be very strong and attractive.

If you decide to make grips, I'd be in for 2 pair for the SIG P-225, 1 pair for the P-228, 1 pair for the P-226, and 2 pair for the P-220.

There is definitely a market for graphite tubing up to maybe 2.5" I.D. or so.

+1. I wold love to get some carbon fiber intercooler piping for my cars. 2.5in OD thinwall would be great. It would resist heat better than most things, and look great. You could count me in if you could get it somewhere near the cost of polished aluminum.

WE have ran that idea many times and we feel that the charge pipes would be under so much pressure and the harmonic tones running through the pipes could cause a problem.  We just did not want to undertake this project to have many pipes fail due to the above.  With that we have stayed away.  But yes that would be a huge seller!

Edit----I'm thinking about stuff like;

A CF AR-15 about 12" long made so that it could be mounted to a trunk lid or quarter panel like you would a Ford emblem, dealer emblem, F150 etc.

The AR15 emblem as a cutout on a contrasting background, for a license plate.
(With approval/royalties worked out with the Avilas)
