I always think of vodka as a morning drink

Sure...when you start out with it and finish with it.

Ahhh......the meaning of life.

Life is a circle.

The end.

Come on now,  the best forts are built with imported high dollar vodka boxes.

1GR, you gotta try Pravda Vodka. It's fairly new to the US market. It's a Polish vodka that blows away Belvedere, Grey Goose, Ketel, etc. It is absolutely the smoothest vodka I've ever tasted.

Pravda Vodka

There's a link at the bottom of their homepage where you can put in your address for them to ship you a sample mini-bottle of the stuff.

I hear it even makes an awesome rattlesnake martini.

DKProf, check this out Tuborg.

They can't ship beer to Missouri

(it's also not clear to me which particular kind of Tuborg they're selling - there are many different types of Tuborg beer, and while all are good, I prefer some over the others.  But, a moot point, since they cannot ship beer to Missouri).

Thanks for sending me the link though - I almost thought I'd be able to get some!

Ketel is not vodka, it is a drink made of juniper berry's.  Juniper is 'jenever' in dutch. and that is the name of the drink over here in the netherlands.
There are 2 kinds of Jenever young and old.

www.ketel1.nl/indexflash.htm

You'd think the Professor would know that.  Being local and all.

I actually did mention jenever BEFORE that (near the top of page 2)

You also might want to try SVEDKA.  It's still fairly new (ie inexspensive), but as it catches on, it's getting more and more expensive.  It's GOOOOOOOOD.  VERY smooth and no after taste.  I was a Ketel One fan until on a whim I thought I'd try this swedish stuff on sale.  I haven't gone back!

NO,  NO, no...  Kettel One is vodka.  Maybe they have other products in the homeland,  but the stuff I buy is vodka.

I should go into the vodka business. I'll just buy Everclear and some distilled water.

Presto!
Sell the mix for $35/750ml

That reminds me,
My dad and I always wondered what would happen if you took cheap Vodka and ran it through one of those Brita filter pitchers? (other than ruin the pitcher)  Would it be smoother etc?

Friends from the U.K. tell me that Bison Grass is very good. Made in Poland, each bottle contains several strands of native bison grass. I don't know if it is available in the U.S. Has anyone tried it?

Ketel One is only good if you're mixing (ie tonic/soda etc...).  Belvedere is drinkable as a martini but not fantastic (Chopin too is you're more of a potato than a grain guy); I hate Grey Goose (yes you can taste the difference).  Cherodei as mentioned earlier is good, but I'm a big fan of Yuri Dolgoruki and Jewel of Russia (I go with Jewel when I can't find my Yuri).

Finally, a liquor thread I can appreciate. I'm a little tired of the Scotch and overpriced yuppy beer threads.
But, frankly, anything that costs more than Stoli is a waste of money.

Ignore the Smirnoff, we were making screwdrivers.

From what I understand this is exactly what McCormick does to make their vodka (& other hard stuff), 190proof grain diluted & mixed with whatever flavor/color additives needed.

Worth a bump? A thread about over-priced piss water? You could take Everclear, stomp on it with distilled water and have a vodka that is "better" (that is, more tasteless) than any of that overpriced crap for about 1/4 the cost!

We did a blind taste test: 6 people; 6 different types of Vodka. No mixing; same temperature.

Everyone agreed that Kettle One was the WORST of the test. Friis vodka finished second behind that French crap.

Your eyes are fookered, its $24.10

What looks like a 1 actually says "for" vertically, like they had been marking soemthing 2 for $1.00 or soemthing but left it.
