Governor Rick Perry signed the Shooting Range Protection Act last Friday.  My Representative Mary Denny wrote and filed House Bill 1837.  We're proud of Governor Perry, Representative Denny and those in both houses in Austin who voted in support of shooting sports.  The anti-gunners and media mounted an intense lobbying campaign against the Bill.  We won this round.

What does the bill do for shooting ranges? What kind of protection?

Adds private shooting clubs to the laws protecting ranges from being shut down or fined for loud noise. You can look at the law at:

It protects the range and owners from civil or criminal penalties from government officials or other persons for noise complaints as long as the range is on compliance with local ordinances or if no applicable noise ordinance, order or rule exists (ie. think unincorporated areas).

You guys have a good thing down there. I watched "the Gun Deadlock" on Lifetime, and saw Susanna Hough (I think it was), that representative who helped get the statewide CCW... What a woman. She married? Ahem. Anyway, it's outstanding to see your elected officials taking steps in the right direction for RKBA.

If I could stand the smell of cowshit, I'd move to Texas [;)]

If ya' can't get used to the smell, leave your boots outside!

OT, my family spent a couple of generations in Tennessee until the New Madrid quake convinced them to move to higher ground.
