Hey, isn't that an MG42 mount?

Correct!  The AR-50 stock has a handy T-slot on the bottom.  You can make adapters to fit it on any mount without modifying the rifle.

Dude, that is totally sweet.  I guess I should have read page 3 before I IM'ed you.

I definitely have to build an adapter like that for my Remington.  Sorry, no pix, just a basic Rem 700 PSS (old style) with a Leupold.  It'll stay within 2" at 300 yards on a calm day, and I can reliably hit a chest-sized target in moderate winds out to 600.

I like it a lot.
It shoots flat and reasonably fast (2830fps)
Recoil is pretty mild compared to .308 and the ballistics are far superior.
Brass is readily available and is easy to work with and there's a great choice of bullets.

I can't see myself shooting .308 again. Ever.

It's worth considering,it has everything going for it.

Not really.

To get a 308 bullet with a BC of over 0.600, you need to go up to about 210gr.   That's not going to be going comparably fast out of anything smaller than 300 RUM.

In 6.5mm, there are several 140-150gr bullets with a BC over 0.600.
In 7mm, the 162-167's are over 0.600.

Berger .308 210gn Vld's have a listed bc of .640 which is in the same range as the 6.5 142gnSierra and 139gn Lapua.
However they can't be driven at fast enough velocities from a .308 to keep up with the .260

Not sure,as I've no experience of .25-06. However, I've neve heard of anyone using .25-06 for match shooting so that must tell you something.
I think part of the reason is because there aren't that many quality match bullets made in .25 cal.

But with that said, I believe that .25-06 is a fine shooting cartridge, but as it appears to be overbore, would estimate the barrel life to be relatively short.
