If you are actually serious about this and want to create an organization to defend our rifles then you need a name that:
doesn't sound like a militia group
doesn't sound scary
doesn't alienate all the other types of firearms
doesn't sound like a white supremacy group.

Remember only white, overweight, middle aged, right wing, male militia nuts need an assault weapon.  That’s the stereotype the media gives the public and that stereotype will automatically be applied to any organization created.

“Homeland Defense Association” would be played off as a militia
Anything with “Brotherhood” would be played off as racist
Anything with “Black” as in “Black Rifle Assn” would be played off as evil or scary
Anything with “Semiautomatic” would alienate firearms that aren’t, such as .50 BMG bolt guns.

I say we take a play out of the anti-gunners book and create something that implies “sporting purpose” just like the anti’s implied a “million moms” even though they only had around 100,000.

My vote is for:
Sporting Firearms Association.  or the SFA.  A group dedicated to the sporting purpose of firearms through hunts, competitions, and entertaining events.

I would like to see the anti’s try to spin that evil, right wing, racist, weapons of war, when is sounds so kind and gentle.
