I've been a Christian all my life, but I started college two years ago as a BIO major. My teachers have all drilled evolution into my head and I am starting to believe parts of it. Would it be wrong to suggest that God created the universe and everything in it and he gave all organisms the gift of speciation and natural selection? I don't think that humans evolved from Great Apes, but I do believe that there has been speciation. I don't feel that anyone can deny that if a species can't change with its environment it will not survive (dinosaurs). I feel that the weak will die off and the strong will survive and the genetic ratio in the community will shift to reflect it.

Anyone else agree with this?

eta:  Evolution also is dangerous because it implies that some humans are more advanced than others.  Evolution fit rather nicely with Nazi racialist theory because they could say that Africans/Jews/Gypsies etc were technologically and culturally backward because they were genetically inferior.  Aryans by contrast were hardier, more hardworking, and generally more intelligent because they had to be in order to survive in a harsher climate.
Even today scientists come dangerously close to repeating that thinking by saying white people are white because they evolved with less melanin in order to absorb more sunlight in northern temeprate zones.

[taking evolution as truth hypothetically for the sake of the arguement]

You are justifying the denial of truth, or at least scientific evidence, for the sake of social harmony. Thats ignorant and takes mankind back a step. Way to go "Comrade."

I believe in creation as the Bible say's. I believe that the one and only true living GOD (of Abraham & Issac) created mankind and the world we live in a perfect state, but man's rebellion against God caused sin to come into this world and put a wedge between man & God. God gave his son Jesus Christ to redeem all of mankind. Evolution is a lie from Satan meant to turn mankind away from God.

I'd just like to make a point again (since a few others have tried to make it already).

EVOLUTION HAS NOTHIGN TO SAY ABOUT THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD, OR THE BEGINNING OF LIFE

Evolution (or a theory of natural selection through the differential survival rates of mutations in various enviornments) describes a mechanism by which life forms evolve and change over time as mutations that are better at breeding survive.

It has NOTHING to do with the beginning of the world, formation of planets, solar systems, etc.

It also has NOTHING to do with biogenesis (or whatever the technical term is) i.e. the beginning of life.  Evolution says nothing about HOW life originally came to be.  The theory is designed at explaining how modern life forms came to be, and how life forms can change over time.

So technically, the quesiton (and the poll) is nonsensical.  It's like asking "What's the better car - a porsche boxter or a boeing 747?"

Whatever.  I personally don't believe evolution not because of my religious beliefs but because it is a weak theory with absolutely NO conclusive evidence to support it.

If evolution is happening there should be ABUNDANT transitional forms availabe for anyone to find just by poking a freaking stick in the ground.  There should be trillions upon trillions of gradual evolutionary steps for each species, yet scientists cannot find a single one! And if you believe "Lucy" is the missing link you probably believe in these too:

I will say this for the theory though,  It has the best damn conceptual artists drawing for it.

Forget about that tired old science stuff... let's debate a REAL issue:

Which one of these depicts the REAL Jesus??

A.  This?

B.  This?

C.  This?

D.  Or this?

I'd argue that since that last pic is the most ancient, it is the most accurate.  Waddya think?

And, no, it's definitely not THIS one!

No offense, but from your posts, it seems that your ONLY qualification to comment on these things IS your religious beliefs.

I'm curious as to what your qualifications actually are are that allow you to CONTRADICT the opinions of pretty much every highly educated scientist who specializes in this stuff and works in labs, research institutions, universities and governments around the world.

Get a Ph.D. in biology or something and then come back and tell us what it is YOU KNOW that all of these tens of thousands of Ph.D.s in biology, biochemistsy, etc. apparently DON"T KNOW.
