I'm looking to get a safe, 12 to 16 gun . It doesn't have to be fancy, but good quality. Looking to spend between 700-1000
Thanks

My Friend's dad has a FT. Knox.
It's pretty nice.

For the money, you can't beat Canon Safes.  They're not the prettiest, nor are they the absolute strongest... but for the money you'll get pretty good peace of mind.

I have a 16 rifle Cannon.  Not real big, but still weighs 500 lbs (closer to 700 lbs loaded), and bolted to the floor 4 ways.  Remember, a safe is only a small part of an overall security plan.  Home alarms, lights on timers, dogs, motion lights, and awareness all fit into an overall plan.
Hope that helps!

I will second the Cannon advice.  I got a great deal on mine too.  If you are at the right gun show you can sometimes find a deal.  Just let the vendors know you have cash and you want a safe they have in stock right now.  I do think the Liberty, Ft. Knox, Browning and even AmSec look nicer than Cannon.

National Safes (now owned by Liberty Safes)are very good looking.  Make sure to get one that is fire resistant too.  Lots of info on the Web by using a search engine like Yahoo.  Enjoy the search.  You should be able to get a good safe for $1000.

Also check out AmSec,they are in the price range you mentioned and they seem to be very good safes.

I'm currently looking too and will probably get one of these as I am in dire need of a safe as well.

Here is their site:

Here's another one:

One company that didn't get very good reviews was Browning.

I just noticed that you're in Arizona.  The Safe Store at 2727 W Indian School Rd, Phoenix, 602-602-264-7233 has a good selection of Cannon, Liberty, and National.  I bought my National from them.  Another place to check out is Arizona Safe Distributors at 5642 N 51st Ave, Glendale, 602-271-4838 with a great selection of AmSec.

I'm very happy with my Granite Security.

why not just live in a giant house size gun safe.

Where ever you get it from, make sure you get liftgate delivery (unless you happen to have the necessary equipment).  I almost got stuck with a tailgate delivery where they only get the safe as far as the back of the truck.  A reputable dealer should already specify liftgate but that doesn't mean the carrier won't screw it up.
