One of the major cost of a safe is freight charges. Many of the companies are in the LA area so you're in a bit of luck.

I went with a Cannon. It's door thickness and wall thickness was equal to those costing a couple times more. The number of bolts and lock protection devices was less. They have two finishes levels - I ended up with the fancy one as it was the last one that a store going out of business had - the nice discount made it cheaper than the lower model.

Most people cracking into these things aren't going to out science the lock - they're going to beat the living hell out of one corner until it cracks along that weak spot and then run a chisel down the seam until they can reach in. Get a good quality lock but as long as it meets the UL certification you're good to go IMHO.

I would recommend the firing lining as your guns are more likely to get burned than stolen.
