Now that the thread is back on track, I must concure:  the first ammendment doesn't say jack a bout what private employers can and can't do.

Not to mention the fact that the guy wasn't fired for expressing his views; he was fired for causing a scene -- did you notice security had to /remove him from the event/ ?

The corruption in the GOP here has reached a boiling point, and your next president may depend on what happens right here in little old nowhere Ohio.

Also, if you would read the article, he was given the tickets by a client of the company and not his employer.  The client was embarassed because he had to be escorted out.  Therefore, the company fired him so they wouldn't lose the client's business.  Pretty simple concept to me.  You are representing not only your business, but the client also.  If he would have declined the tickets and went on his own, I'm betting that he would not have been fired.  Just a little common sense goes a long way.

You piss off a client for whatever reason, you lose money.

So, keep everything not related to business out of business.

It's the oldest rule in the book.

There is a reason The Neutral Observer never shares anything but the vaguest personal details.  Here, The Neutral Observer is anonymous, and can safely post any political rant or weird-ass theory.  The First Amendment, like the rest of the Bill of Rights, protects citizens against government excess.  It never mentions anything about protecting citizens from other citizens, or protecting a citizen if that citizen pisses off his boss or, worse, a client and loses the company money in the process.

Ben Dover, take this as friendly advice and nothing more.  You've been lax in withholding personal details (if some of the things you've said have been true), and you've said things that will piss off your boss.  This site is visited by thousands of people daily, and it's a small world.  Might want to rethink.

If he accepted an event ticket from a client of his employer, obviously a client who is a Bush supporter, then attended the event and acted like an ass, that's a work related setting. Not too smart. Even the ACLU can't help him there.
