I made a comment similar to this once to a real estate attorney I know, her comment was that 98% of them knew that they were doing and what they were getting into.  Basically, all want to live a better life and kick the can down the road until after they are dead.

I can easily live well  the rest of my days, just from the income produced by what remains in my retirement.
That would leave all of my assets intact when my wife and I are gone. A pretty sizable nut for each of my 4 children.

Now that would make sense to my caveman instincts, of making success more likely for my descendants.
Except the first 3 of the 4 can't or won't bear me grandchildren. The oldest can't, he FA until he was near 40 before he FO there was some problems.

So honestly, fuck em. I love them all dearly but no grandkids means the Mrs. and I are going to buy a land yacht and a blue water catamaran and enjoy the fruits of a lifetime of hard work and risk.

The youngest is just out of college, so I have to give her awhile before I waste it ALL, but I'm definitely going to waste most anyway.
No grandkids? Let their childless asses try to tell me about how selfish I am after footing the bill for a lux upbringing for 4 kids.

Lets take sex… Boomers enjoyed the fuck anyone, anywhere with as many as you like, take drugs and be an aimless cloud floating through life.

Then boomers made written consent to physical contact at multiple points a thing and made it so drug tests are all but mandatory.

Yeah, I hate those pesky drug tests.

I really don’t care except they are demeaning. Its the dichotomy that is annoying.

In many ways, he is correct.  I watched the video last night.  At first, I was thinking that he is off of his rocker, but he was right about a handful of points.

I was raised to believe that each generation should make improvements for the next generation.  My great grandparents fled Europe after WW1.  My grandparents owned businesses and made a good life.  My mom and dad have both made great money while they were working.  They truly did not give us anything.  "Anything" means guidance, mental health awareness, relationship advice, skills....  literally anything.  The Boomers have created a weak "next generation".  Why do you think there are so many people living in their parents' basement until 40?  The parents did not parent...

Dads a boomer. Love him. Moms a boomer.

He’s been giving 100k’s of money from my moms side of family. He started a landscaping company and never really tried to learn the industry or hit the margins he needed too. Just drove some Mexicans from one lawn to the next.

My mom left him and he nearly lost the house until my Korean War mustanged officer grandfather passed away and left the 3 acres and 2k square foot house in south Austin. Dad got 200k from the sale of that house. No talk of me or my sister in that. He just hoovered it up. The house my moms family basically helped him get into he managed to sell for 500k 2 years ago. Bought 20 acres and a house in the country. Now I’m certain he’s worried about money again. His new wife’s veteran parents are about to pass I think and he’s got step mom and step bro on disability and he’s going to get 1 million + from that while he refuses to take sensible management jobs while continuing to try and fail to be some speaker real estate business dude like he’s always failed at.

Mom as a decreed teacher who decided to stop working at like 50, just because. My moms family gives her like 3k a month. They give her like 150k for a house. Pay for her medical bills. Give her a chunk of her inheritance, like 250k, she gives my sister and I like 10k from that. She buys a new car every two years. Gets into credit card debt over her eyeballs and her rags to riches (no joke Horacio Alger shit) parents pay it off for her every 2 years or so.

Both my my mom and my dad could not be more sad about how rough they have it. Dad will tell me he’s done everything on his own and he made his own wealth. Even though he’s fucked me a lot with money I love my dad. My wife might piss on him if he was on fire at this point. There’s more to it than this.

They both tell me how they are glad I don’t need any help because we both work 40+ a week and full our IRAs and drive cash bought cars past 150k miles.

I expect to be left 0$ When they pass in 25+ years.

So I kinda get on the “fuck the boomers train.”

Medical now for the oldest. They're 40 having waited until 38 to TRY to have kids, only to find she had a large ovarian cyst. Removal, healing, and even a failed round of IVF (using only 1 egg smdh) took em to 40 and clot shots. I have no more hope there, and they're kind of shell shocked by it which is heart breaking, but FAFO. They enjoyed the selfish DINK life quite awhile. Looks like too long.

The next 2 are choosing not to. Both cite their idyllic childhoods and how impossible that is to do for their own kids. I must have missed them even trying? They have the current "It was so easy for you and it's so hard for us" defeatist attitudes, although they're well educated and equipped for success. Neither is lazy, I just see no fire and if they expect the income to give their kids a lux upbringing too without some risk, some sleepless nights building businesses, etc. well, we know it doesn't work like that. They were not coddled as kids, and they would find their privilege crashing down around them if they didn't meet school and conduct expectations, so they're not "spoiled".

I dunno, man. But it breaks my heart. I want grandkids.

Boomer here..and I feel your pain.  Our generation was fortunate.  We knew how to work and didn't have all the distractions kids have today.

I'm lucky to have good income stream with pension, 401k and a Social Security account to draw from.  The Social Security account gives me money to burn without having to tap the 401k, this helps me stay ahead of inflation.

I do feel some responsibility to give back to the kids that are keeping it propped up for everyone else.  Because of that, I'm probably one of the biggest tippers you will meet out in the working world.  I figure it's my way to help correct the screwing that kids today are getting from the Boomer generation.  Sometimes I go as high at 35%, but only if the service is prompt and courteous, and you don't look like a circus freak.    My advice to you kids is to put down the Super Nintendo, get off the couch, and put in a full day of work.  Be professional and polite to your customers, you never know who you're serving.

why the hell is he blaming boomers?

It's LIBERAL POLICY that has fucked up everything.

Unless you are making the argument that boomers vote for liberals. In which case, you may have an argument.

Inflation, tax/spend. all have played in robbing wealth, both near term and generational wealth from Americans.

This is not a boomer problem, this is a liberal problem.

What's crazy is that boomers are getting so old they think "millennials" are still the young adult generation just going to and graduating college. I'm a 37 year old millenial that graduated high school 20 years ago. The millenial generation starts with births in 1981. That means the oldest millenials are 42 years old now..  They are almost at viagra age. And their upcoming exams aren't college ones. They are prostrate ones.

This is BS too. Generations younger than boomers have been voting for 40 years now.
Also, cities have younger populations than rural, and aren't those just a beacon of good choices?
What is really hilarious is that non-boomers think they're the first ones in history to think all the problems are the fault of their parents. Holy shit.

My ex wife’s, step dad remarried a few years after her mother died, they had been together for maybe 20 years.  They had a nice house, but filthy, like dog piss stains and every dish in the house / old fast food piled high filthy.

new wife runs a tight house, it’s spotless, landscaped, and beautiful, they  added a detached garage / family gathering area for her huge family.  Been together for 15 years now.

Her dads getting up there in age.

Ex wife recently…. “ well, I guess the house will go to Debbie after dad dies, I won’t get anything out of what mom put into it.

As if the new wife should be homeless, so she and her siblings can sell it and pocket 1/3 each. Lol.

You can damn sure bet if she was the new wife the house SHOULD be hers, and fuck those kids.

I never understood expecting your parents to leave you wealth when they die. They clothed and fed you to you were an adult they don't owe you shit. I told both my parents to do what they want while they can I don't expect anything. Only mom left now and I fully expect it to take the house and farm to care for her in the end. Sure I would like to have it but guess what I didn't pay for it.
